10mm has gone the way of the DODO!

Yea it's a nice gun. the only thing I wish were different is the grips were a little to thin for me. My old S&W 659 (I believe) had a double stack mag & a nice feel on the grips. even my 1911 has a nice feel.

I put soft Hogues on my 1066 when I had it. It widdened out the grip somewhat & made it more comfortable. I found the factory Delrin grips too thin & slippery. Interestingly, about 2 years after I sold mine it appeared 'for sale' on the EE here. The Hogues were gone & it was carrying a set of hardwood grips. I thought about buying it back but by then I already had my Delta & decided to stick with the 1911 platform... :yingyang:

Guys,

You have to realize that the 10mm Auto is a niche gun. It will never have the widely accepted popularity of the 9/.40/.45 but for those who will sink time and money into it it will always have a place - a certain cachet that the more plebian calibers cannot hope to attain. Kinda like the .41 Magnum - lots of guys love it and spend the money on weird brass and seriously undersized .44 molds ;), but hey, whatever blows up your skirt.

As to the comparison between the Delta and the G20? Apples and oranges folks. You are trying to compare a design hardly over the score of years mark with one that's nearing 100 years old - it makes no sense. It's like saying that's a pretty nice Ferrari you have there (1911), but check out my Toyota (Glock) :slap: - they are not the same and, aside from caliber, can't fairly be compared. The Glock is soul-less, while the 1911 is a work of art from the bench of JMB, and a thing of beauty to all true believers :stirthepot2:...

Nelly - if you in fact saw a 9mm Glock kaBlam, be assured it was an anomaly. I have kB'd a G21 and 2 x G22's, but never a G17/19, nor have I ever heard of it happening. Unusual to be sure, to the point that none other than Larry Vickers himself (who knows a little something about small arms, and pistols in particular) recommends the Glock in 9mm as the most reliable and likely to work when needed (I'm paraphrasing here, OK...).

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

My 1006 was hard to find anything for it. I let it slip out of my hands last fall.
I still regret it. but I may get it back yet. What you said about the grips was so true for me also. They always felt like I really didn't have good hold on it.

But I would like to find a 10mm 1911 conversion kit.

Is that your mustang in your avitar?

Cool, I have a 1970 1/2 firebird. 455HO 4 sp. I've had it 30 yrs.

yep, cars, guitars, & guns.

Well, at least you kept yours... Sold my 1969 Camaro circa 1982 for a downpayment to buy my first house. Wish I'd taken a pic of her after the new paint... This one just before is the only pic I have.
