I don't think they would be a bad idea for home defence if you would be the type of person who would rather seriously injure someone and scare the crap out of them as opposed to killing them if they were to break into your home.
Thanks for the replies guys they look like a good less lethal bear defence round, pretty darn pricey compared to lead slugs or 00 buck
No offense my friend... But that is a really stupid idea. I'd also check the hunting regs in your neck of the woods to be sure it's even legal to discharge a rubber round at a bear without a C.O.'s badge on. Even then, really bad idea.
Be charged the same if you used less lethal as if you used live...
That's a negative ghost-rider.
I've got both less lethal rubber 00-buck and slug for testing. I've shot a few things at the range with both.
And what does that have to do with using them against a person? I was merely stating to the person I quoted that he be charged no different if he used live or less lethal against a criminal in home defense. Nothing about using them at ranges or owning so NEXT....
That was a separate point to my "negative ghost rider" to your assertion that you would be charged the same.
You would most certainly not be charged the same. The most likely outcome of a real slug or real 00-buck on someone is death. There is a low expectation of survivability from any shotgun round at close range. The rubber slugs or 00-buck would be "less lethal" and most likely NOT inflict a lethal injury. Thus you could avoid the homicide investigation AND you could show you were not intending to kill by purposely using less lethal ammunition.
Still be charged for unsafe storage, discharging a fire....., etc etc etc list goes on and on and on... BUT it was less lethal.
How many people in Canada won home defense charges with a firearm and never went poor fighting legal battles?
Also go after you if your qualified to use less lethal and try and get you for criminal.
