17 WSM Rimfire Rifles Manufactures, where are they?

You have no idea the pleasure youve provided me by being so easy to agitate. I would explain it, but doubt it would be in your realm of comprehension. Oh wow, words more than five letters and never even looked it up in a dictionary. Panties in a bunch about cost coming from the cheap #### that won’t pay $18 bucks for a box of fifty rounds. Pot callin the kettle black. We already have covered the ball. Run and complain about being threatened is what you say as well as guessing my age without knowing anything about me.
I wish you a long and prosperous life. Cheers Chris.

Good riddance!

Don't let the door knock your walker out from under you on the way out.

I'm not agitated, I actually enjoy poking holes in the theories of the stupid, and especially in calling out the whinge artists.

I have time on my hands. LOL!

Don't you have a cloud to yell at or something? A long and meandering letter to the Editor, maybe?

Do try to recall, that all this could have been avoided, had you managed to let go. But no, you dragged this up just to whine about something that apparently offended you some weeks prior. LOL!

Where would you get the idea I was going away. I wasn't aware that I had offered any theories, Not sure what you think ur poking holes in.I can imagine why you've time on ur hands! Not really LOL but actually understandable. Never thought of yelling at clouds but apparently you do. Was going to try it out but its a clear blue sky. Have a great day. WIA

Great deal on the ammo. That will keep you in business for a while. Best deal I was able to get was $18.25 with tax. Even the Canadian tire stores in my area have it but more $ than the local gun shops.

It looks like Volquartsen has given up on the 17WSM ( from their web site)

A Tough Announcement For Us To Make

"How do you decide what product to build next?"

For us, the answer has always been simple. We build firearms that we are excited to shoot. Firearms that we ourselves would buy. For this reason, it's always been our mission to build products to what we consider the best they can be. That doesn't mean we ever try to stop innovating and improving upon an existing design, though.

For this very same reason, it's extremely tough for us to discontinue a product due to factors other than product demand.

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to not proceed with the manufacturing of our 17 WSM Summit rifle.

This decision has not come easy. Believe me, we have done everything within our abilities to get these rifles to perform up to our standards and expectations. We have invested a lot of time and money in an effort to avoid this outcome.

So what's the issue?

The 17 WSM is an awesome concept with ballistics unmatched by any other rimfire cartridge. A rimfire cartridge generating over 3000 fps at the muzzle is no small feat. Without a doubt, the engineers behind this round had to think outside the box in order to accomplish these velocities from a rimfire round.

The downside of this round is that the variance from one round to the next, in particular in the rim dimensions. We have tried to overcome this issue in a multitude of ways and design changes. After testing our most recent design changes, we thought we had the answer. As our testing continued from one lot of ammunition to the next, our excitement was short-lived. Upon changing from one lot of ammunition to the next, the issues we had been working hard to correct soon resurfaced.

Initially, we thought maybe something had changed within the rifle itself. However, after switching back to the previous lot of ammunition, the problems disappeared. Unfortunately, this process has repeated itself more times than we would care to count.

We don't give up easily, and I can't recall a time that we discontinued a product under these circumstances. Yes, we have discontinued products that were replaced with newer products or were no longer relevant, but never for this reason. We are as stubborn as they come, but at some point, certain factors are simply out of our control.

We are extremely disappointed at having to announce this decision. We know many of you have been anxiously awaiting your order.

As a company, we are always looking forward. We will be redirecting our efforts towards several new projects that we can't wait to show you.

If you currently have a Summit 17 WSM on order with us, your order will automatically be canceled. If you have paid a deposit, this can either be refunded to you or applied to a new order. Please email us with any questions you may have on this. Our sales team will be following up with you regarding your order.

Additionally, as a result of these ammo variances, we will no longer be taking orders for our semi-auto 17 WSM rifles. If you currently have a semi-auto 17 WSM rifle on order and would like to inquire about order status or make a change to your order, please reach out to us.

Sincerely, “

I've had a Marlin and a Savage in 17 HMR and they shot fine for me on calm days. I can't see the point of the .17 WSM though. The .17 Rem be me favorite as I can
load 'er from 2700 to 4000+ fps using 25 gr bullets.

I can see Volquartsen's frustration working with the .17 WSM as it is based on .27 cal power nailer blank brass that be drawn out & necked down. The rim thickness be rather thicker and the case more robust to handle the higher pressure. Folks like Lapua, Eley, CCI and others won't waste development time on the WSM as it ain't near as popular with folks as the HMR loads.

I have a Ruger, and love it too, but it took bedding and a trigger to make it shoot. I dont get how rifle companies are still in the game today with the triggers they put on rifles. (Ruger/ browning)

They pretty much get screwed by a two pronged approach. They suffer from management trying to make the shareholders happier by making stuff as cheap as possible and still sell, and they suffer from the Company Lawyers trying to keep their company from getting sued back into the Stone Age over something that really was not their fault, but was made to look that way by another lawyer.
Thus, a ten pound trigger pull that feels like it was polished on pavement.

Never a ruger for me. Or savage. Again. No thanks. I’ve never held a more cheaply built firearm. Some of them
Are okay yes but I’d rather get a cz in 17 hmr or 17 hornet.

I`m with you Mike, I`ve tried rugers and savages in the past and came to the conclusion that life is too short to do that to oneself, so moved on to better things. Worst rifle I ever tried was a ruger american, total crap.
