Your buffer tube comment doesn't make sense - it will look similar on an AR. The threads on the tube will never be completely 'covered' when installed into the receiver. So long as it's aligned correctly for the stock and it's retaining the buffer detent/spring it is completely fine.

The mag catch issue I believe was posted about in Armseast's forum/threads - not sure what the problem is, but a number of people had success with switching out the mag release to a Norgon Ambi. If Armseast actually replies to your emails (or provides any customer service) they should be able to clarify and rectify the situation fairly quickly.

Oh boy have i had my issues with my Stag...no mag issues. TWO defective rifles in a row! first one wouldn't cycle properly second one had a defective trigger well more specifically the sear. No mag issues though.

Well I wasn't sure if it was an issue or not hence is why I am asking the community as I am not a AR expert and the website photo from which I purchased the rifle shows that the buffer tube is fully screwed in without threads showing. It also seems that the magazine catch on the rifle is not engaging the magazine as it just falls out which means I received a lemon

Agree with the Buffer tube, Threads will always be showing, If they weren't you wouldn't be able to unscrew the castle nut to take it apart.

Maybe take the mag catch all the way out and see what the edge looks like that locks the mag, maybe its not sharp or a little rounded where it shouldn't be.

With the bolt locked back does the mag seat properly?

I’ll have to take a peak at mine, but last time I was in at CSC i almost bought some XCR pistol mags for mine, asked if they’d guarantee fit and function so we tried it in the rifle they had in stock. Mag would seat and it looked as though the tab on the mag catch was rather small in size. I’ll check to see if mine looks similar, but it’s more like apples and oranges as I only have Lancer mags for mine at the moment and they’ve functioned flawlessly.

Yes, the magazine states that it is a 308 CAL and the brand is ASC out of New Britain CT (connecticut), also uploaded some pictures of the inside of the magazine well. Not sure why they are so big but if you open them in a new tab they shrink with a zoom in option.

ASC mags did the same in my stag. The catch is too shallow. Dump them and use Cproducts mags and the problem goes away.

Check the mag catch, send a picture of it, It might be an AR-15 not a DMPS/SR25 pattern, HELL could be a AR-10 B series

I have the same problem...C-Products fall out of mine...seems like the mag catch spring is too weak...or the catch does not engage properly in the detent.

Well one can only be glad no one counts on these knock off AR's (Stag/BCL, etc...) to save their live's.
Just wasting their time (and bunches of money) at the range thankfully...

Normally Stag makes a good rifle but sometimes a lemon gets out. Even top tier makers put out a lemon from time to time.

I disagree the notion that people don't rely on these rifles. Yeah, they probably aren't headed to the sandbox to go fight the Taliban but if you're out on a hunt it'd be pretty ####ty if your mag fell out at an inopportune moment for example.

Well you'd still have one in the pipe.....
