That’s correct I would never ever purchase a race engine that has been dremeled by a member on this board or on any other board and only consider an experienced pro shop as well as a firearm. No disrespect but I would avoid purchasing a cut up receiver from anybody else on here.

Welp most my guns are out hahah, I horse mine, all have memories so I'd never sell, and a over bored block is what's in my truck now, a used block that was built up

Not surprising at all because it would cost them all a big pile of $$$ if they owned up to this apparently minor oversight. A warranty claim will only get you the cheapest 'fix'

Seems like a short term gain but a way to lose business in the long term. I'm going to be sticking with the Stag 10 for the long term but I'll definitely be going through a business like A z t e c to pick up another upper down the road.

Yes, a replacement stock mag catch and feigning ignorance that there is an issue with the receiver dimensions.

Disappointed with the way AE handled this.

I have a long list of things 'experienced pro shops' have screwed up and sold and then always blamed the customer. In a lot of cases, 'warranty' is no more than just a piece of paper thrown in the box.

If you have the means and ability to blueprint a race engine, it makes it pretty easy to figure out when someone didn't follow the print when machining a firearms receiver.

I fully expect that this particular issue with the receivers will be swept under the rug and never treated as 'warranty', which in my opinion is not the correct way to do business. What nobody knows yet for sure is how many are affected, and which 'channel' they came from. With an open discussion, we, as customers can figure that out. I don't expect any of the importers to participate, that's just the way business works. In reality it's not a safety issue, just a pita.

The first step was pointing out the problem and the second step was resolving it.
For ME the solution was simple but for many people, it won't be so easy and I expect any 'fixes' are just going to be half fixes at best.

I agree. The fact that Stag/Arms East/IRG don't appear to be doing anything to fix the problem is surprising. I previously held Arms East in high regard but not so much after this episode.

I can't speak for other companies, but I will call that out as a unfair statement towards Arms East. We support Stag Arms warranty for what we import, and to the best of my knowledge, we have dealt with any customers who have reported any sort of problems with advice and parts from Stag Arms. To the best of my knowledge, no customer who has requested assistance has been turned away. If there is a customer with an issue they should contact us.

If someone grey-marketed something and have problems and their vendor isn't helping them, we'd appreciate not being grouped with it.

I'm dissapointed with your statement. Stag Arms provides the advice and warranty, we service the claim. AE has never feigned ignorance for anything. If someone has an issue that hasn't been addressed, I would expect them to let us know.

I'm with you on this. This is a simple fix, and it's exactly what any of these "pro" shops or even manufacturer would be doing. You don't have to be a gun builder by trade to complete a very basic repair like this.
Some have the aptitude, others throw their hands in the air.

Firearms are an extremely basic mechanical platform.

Study a competent machinist to correct the poor tolerances found in mass production.. what a crazy idea!

So guys that's having trouble with the mag catch it's the little bead that surround the post that pushes the mag catch out Wonder be beneficial to use a small Dremel drill bit or tiny drill bit and chamfer the left hand side of the receiver where that rod goes in through the receiver so it would fit inside there, sorry if it's not clear but you're all the bead welding bead that's raised on the mag catch rod that spot we need to assess that into the receiver

I was hoping you'd be a bit more specific. There are clearly issues with some lowers where the mag catch pocket isn't deep enough so I'm sure this isn't the first time you are hearing about this. I was hoping you might tell us what Ae/Stag has done for these receivers - is it a new mag catch, machining the pocket like a previous poster, or a new lower?

It seems like the bead around the rod on the mag catch is holding the mag catch out slightly that needs to be other ground down and risk their mag catch falling apart or the receiver needs to have a bit of chamfering done to recessed that part inside I'll see if I can get a picture of it but there's a picture on the thread here

It has been many months since we last heard of a problem that wasn't traced to a mag, and even then, of hundreds of sets and hundreds more rifles sold, we had probably a dozen reports of mag catches not correctly securing the mag. Stag Arms did identify some mag catches as problematic and replaced them. I don't know that we heard back from anyone beyond that (I am not the service rep). If a receiver or anything else is actually out of spec resulting in function issue, I am sure it would be replaced. I don't know that your statement of there clearly being issues with some receivers mag release pockets being out of spec is correct, but if someone does have such an issue, we would of course assist in rectifying the situation. There has been 0% reluctance on behalf of Stag Arms to rectify function issues presented to them.

So, I tested mine out again tonight.

The 10 and 20 rd Gen 3 Pmags lock in solid. No issues at all.

The XCR mag, not so much. I could wiggle it twice and pull it out with my hand. So I took one of my big punches, and stuck it in the catch hole and pried gently until the metal at the top of the hole flared out very slightly. I'm talking 1/32". That was enough for the mag to catch and I wasn't able to pull the mag out by hand anymore. I'll fire it on the weekend and pry it out a little more if needed.
