1911 in 9mm or just go to 45ACP?

Where steel pistols are concerned.

9mm=CZ Shadow
.45 acp= 1911's

You may or not be aware, but 1911's run the gamut from cheap (economical) ones, to Night Hawks and everything in between. My advice is buy once, cry once. Identify how much you could spend on something like a 1911, then double that money and buy it. Just do it, no regrets, don't look back.

I have a tangfolio 1911 in 45, once I figured out the extractor it runs pretty good, the trigger isn't fitted perfectly. I didn't like the short trigger the previous owner installed, and went back to a normal length one.
The ruger sr1911 in 45 wasn't as feature rich, but did run flawlessly. Once dirty you could tell the slide was slowing down, but it still cycled.

A bul armory 5" 1911 in 9mm with an optics cut was going to be my next one, but you know what happened.

I ran my series 80 Colt in .45 for decades. I only replaced it with a Ruger 1911 in .45 these last few years. I have to say, I like it better than my colt.
I have a stainless Series 80 Gold Cup in 45 ACP and even though it's quite a few years old it still shoots lights out. Tight as a drum and despite being a Series 80 the trigger is pretty sweet.

Dlask builds an excellent 1911. Anyone recommending any factory gun likely has not handled a 1911 built by Joe Dlask. As for caliber if you are only going to shoot a bit then it really does not matter, but if you are considering this for IPSC then 9mm is far more economical.

I'm sure Dlask makes a fine gun, but what about the other end of the spectrum?

Is Norinco still making cheap ass 1911s? I feel like those were getting scarce before the ban, but 1911s are not really my niche...

Whos making the best budget 1911? Not necessarily the cheapest, more like the cheapest actually worth buying?

Hey guys-I was musing about this recently. With PP likely taking government in the coming months I think we're all wondering about how soon handguns will be part of of the picture again, and I was looking at restricted courses this spring in anticipation of that. I'd been more focused on the "will they/won't they" and far less so on what pistol I'd consider if it all comes together.

Of course, I have a rimfire in mind (Taurus TX22 with optic mount or one of the Ruger 22/45s) and would probably settle-in to something in 9mm for cost reasons....but boy, it's always been the 1911 in 45 acp that got the juices flowing.

What are considered the best 9mm/1911s out there and failing that, best all-steel 9mm auto?
Just get one of each. You won't regret it.

I regret not getting one in 40S&W and 10mm.

The people saying get both are telling the truth. The single action trigger and all metal constructions makes it great to shoot in any caliber. I love .45ACP because of my 1911s. I prefer the slower push of the heavier round compared to the snappy 9mm. If you want more features in your metal guns, go look in the CZ and CZ clone family of handguns. If you have a range that rents handguns near you, it can be a cheap way to test a 1911 in either caliber if you have to pick one.

Hi bruv. Since you've also got a rimfire in mind, I suggest getting 3:

A Ruger Mark IV 22/45 in 22LR, a CZ shadow 2 in 9mm, and a colt 1911 in 45 acp. Never hesitate ever again and get all of it when the getting is good.

I had always wanted a 1911, looked at the cheap ones but never seen anything worth buying. Also, I didn’t want yet another calibre (45). Had lots of .40 and 9mm handguns. But I seen this a few days before the ban and said what the heck. I figured if I didn’t like it I’d sell it. Well, I actually really like it!!! Nice trigger, nice balance. Yes, I know it’s not a tradition frame but I am very happy with it (9mm).
Lots of fun to shoot!!!

Tisas. Turkish made. All forged steel. Love all mine. I own a Norinco 1911, and some Tisas 1911s in 9mm and .45ACP. Not quite as cheap as a Norc, but as far as quality goes there is no comparison. Check them out on YouTube. They have a bunch of different configurations to choose from too.

My NP29 9mm has been surprisingly reliable with all ammo including JHP.

And with all its sharp edges, if it runs out of ammo I can throw it at the target......
