1911 in 9mm or just go to 45ACP?

Well read / Youtube up on the Tisas 1911 Army or Duty in 45ACP. It was one of the last pistols i bought before the shutdown. So glad i did.

It shoots great and every review raves about them.

I guess since we are only shooting holes in paper it doesn't matter if its 9mm or 45 ... but, in my mind, having the legendary look and feel of a solid steel 1911 in the caliber it was designed to be is like owning a great bit of art (even if it is not the original oil).
 
It's too bad we couldn't import Springfield EMP 9mm. Specially designed shorter frame just for 9mm. reduced grip circumference

Maybe if PP is going to unfreeze handguns he might modify the 12.6 category to allow the EMP. It makes no sense that a Glock 48 is restricted in Canada while the 4" Springfield EMP which is 8mm longer and 12mm taller is prohibited. I fired an EMP in the U.S last year. It was love at first shot.

I have a Tisas Browning Hi Power clone (unironically in 9mm as JMB intended), and I have no complaints with it. If I were to nit-pick, the finish is some sort of cerakote, and could be blued steel. But aside from that, it's a good range toy.

Below is an internet pic. Mine doesn't have the extended safety lever, or the "Regent" roll mark and the sights are different. Said another way, mine looks like a Browning Hi Power.

Probably better than the FEG models. I had a FN BHP and a FEG High Power. Then one of the "S&W" style ones.

Does yours have the extended beaver tail?
I've always found the Hi-Powers to be ascetically unbalanced but when ever I see one with an extended beavertail it looks better to my eyes!


Back to the OP, If I found a gun genie in a surplus box of ammo that could pull free ammo out of the air...... but I could only pick one type of ammo and handgun, it would be a single stack M1911A1 and an endless supply of free .45ACP ball ammo...... That and a GI M1928A1Thompson would make me a happy GNUT.....:)

Looks like Girsan does or did make some with extended beavertails..... I might have to look into it when the gun summer of love arrives and ends "the freeze"! Something without the rail and more like this custom job..... :)

No, the hammer comes back and taps the web of my hand every shot. I kinda like it.
 
I've got a Norc NP29 1911 in 9mm. Great pistol:

I only changed out the grips; installed an adjustable aluminum trigger & ditched the extended slide stop for a stock one.

Nah, it has the commander style bobbed hammer, so when I say it taps the web of my hand, it's just that; a tap. If it had a spur hammer, my hand would be a bloody mess. I know if someone offers their Hi Power that has a spur and no extended beavertail, I'd have to adjust my grip, but the Hi Power, likes a high grip.
Shooting the Hi Power for a while, or CZ'ds or Jerrico's, then switching back to a 1911, the design improvements become very apparent as it feels there's soooo much more gun hanging around on top of your hand than there is with the other designs. Even when choked up on, the 1911 has a ridiculous amount of bore over compared to the newer designs. Not that they're better than the 1911, just very different despite outward appearances.

I swapped out the stinky rubber Norinco grips on my NP29 for Crimson Trace laser grips.

Works fine.

My NP29 is very reliable with both ball anf JHPs. Is yours the same?

Only ran factory ball ammo & my own 120 gr lead crayola point reloads thru it with no issues.

Save the JHP's for the Colt Commander. ;)....lol...
