Very interesting post on your old 1911. I wonder if you could answer a simple question for me. I have seen an old 45 Colt that I believe came from a Canadian who was a member of the R.A.F. I don't think he was overseas in the war but rather an instructor in Canada. The firearm I saw had 'PROPERTY OF U.S. GOVERNMENT ' or some such thing stamped into it. Would you say it is possible this was issued to a Canadian or is it likely just a war souvenir? I don't know what dates or numbers are on it but if they are legible could they be traced to learn for whom the gun was originally issued?

Made some new bocote grips

I was humming and hawing a bit over getting a Para Ordinance Canadian Forces edition 1911 because though I'm a reservist, I'd never deployed overseas, let alone to Afghanistan.

So, I felt like a bit of a poser even thinking about buying it, but it was too good a deal to pass up and I've always wanted to add a tan 1911 to my collection without blowing $3k or whatever the Colt USMC goes for.

My Para was previously enjoyed, and as you can tell, it is not a BNIB safe queen, lol! The previous owner had Pearce grips on it, not sure what happened to the original Para grips, but I threw on a pair of Magpul grips when I first got it just because the Pearce grips, though comfy (like Hogue), looked like they belonged to someone else.

Also decided to swap out a few things like the FLGR and arched MSH, just personal preference:

Last thing was the grips...picked up a set of G10 LOK grips, made in the USA and comparatively feel the same as VZ Grips (got a set of these on another 1911)

All guns supplied by the US to thier allies under the Lend Lease Program were stamped Made in USA and/ or United States Property in order to comply with neutrality laws. It could well be an issued piece. I believe that Google would be able to turn up some links regarding serial number ranges supplied to GB ame Canada.

A 10mm 1911 for wilderness carry would be perfect. The Canadian gov't needs to pull their heads out of their butts.
