Back circa 1992, Lever Arms in Vancouver got a few crates of "surplus" 1911/1911A1's. While some were in real nice, original, correct condition, there were quite a number that were real "dogs". Poor finish, mismatched, missing small parts, particularly grips & grips screws, or home-made grips, etc. Some even had been nickeled. A couple buddies & I picked up 12 of the "dogs" for the paltry sum of $99 each. Here's a "before" & "after" pics of one of the one's I had:
Here's how it looked when I got it from Lever Arms:
Here it is with a set of Colt medallion grips installed, after I cleaned it up. Note: the frame is a 1911 [ie pre 1924]:
Here's it again, after being refinished. Turned out not too bad for a 'dog'...lol... :
The one above I had I sold off quite awhile ago. Thought this would be a good place to post the pics.
My Norincidink Np-something something
Got it with park finish, Wilson full guide rod, STi poly trigger, bevertail, Wilson hammer, houge grips, no front sight and standard a1 rear sight, and a1 rear mainspring housing
Put taller sights, flat mainspring housing, archangel aluminum grips with built in magwell, stippled the front strap (4hours and 3 bits later)
And distressed the hell outta the finish
Stainless sig in 9mm. It's been on my list for so long! The trigger is tough out of the box, but so was my xo model in .45 & now it's amazing!
*also question for you SIG SAUER "why the dumb lanyard loop on the mainspring housing that digs into a shooter's hand?"
Here's my recently Cera-Koted STI 5" Tactical Single-stack 1911A1 with Trijicon RMR MRDS and Streamlight TLR-2G White Light/Green Laser.
My other M1911A1 is a Para Ordnance Single-Stack Commemorative Tour Pistol for Task Force 1-08, wherein my Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team was attached to 2PPCLI Battlegroup for combat operations in Panjway District of Kandahar Province. It is equipped with a Leupold Deltapoint Pro MRDS and a Streamlight TLR-1 Light.
I had to replace the dumb lanyard looped mainspring housing on my new sig 1911, so i got a nice Nighthawk Custom replacement & also added the ###y Hogue grips
