1911's Pics Thread

This impulse buy has turned out to be my favorite 1911 of all time. Springfield Armory Loaded ca. 2005. CGN seller said it was his most accurate 1911 and after shooting it a couple times, I can truthfully say this is also my most accurate 1911, although I haven't shot my Kimber Stainless Target 2 yet. My Ruger SR1911 and Kotanko customed Norinco two tone Sport are close but not as accurate.

Frame to slide fit as well as barrel to slide lock up are bank vault tight, as in zero clearance, zero movement. This Springfield loves my homecast Lee tumble lube 230 grain round nose molded from wheel weights loaded over 4.8 grn Titegroup. 3 inch 5-shot groups at 15 meters handheld standing. Considering my very average skills or lack of it, that accuracy is outstanding. Reliability has been 100% with my reloads and all brands of mags from Norinco to McCormicks and MecGars.

I got it barely broken in with 2,000 plus rounds.

I think I stole it, honestly, for the price of $760 shipped insured with two quality mags.

Nice 1911. I really stole my Springfield 1911 MC operator. 450$ shipped just a few months ago.

Anyone know what 1911 is in the middle?

All three are beauties. But I love the grips of the one in the middle.

Looks like a Sig Sauer 1911 Max, and that's apparently a Garolite grip. But note that swapping around grips is the easiest bit of 1911 customization there is, and there's a thriving aftermarket in them. I wouldn't buy a gun just to get its grips!

New mainspring housing with magwell, mag release, and a long trigger, then some metal work and a two tone parkerized finish. Hoping to get it shooting good enough I can maybe use it for some IPSC shooting this year, but I seem to shoot my 45's better. Need to work on getting the slide to lock back on an empty mag too.

Looks really nice. Did you do the refinish work yourself? I like the colour choices.
Have you tried tweaking the mag follower to get the slide to lock open on the empty mag?

I haven’t posted any 1911 pics in a while so felt I should. New grip safety installed today. Still looking for some checkered grips. Hard to come by it seems.

Thanks, yes I did all the work myself. I haven't played with the mags to see if I can get it to lock open, but the 19 rounders I've got for potential IPSC use have plastic followers. Might have to weld up the slide stop a bit to get it working properly, but I have to spend some time playing with it to figure out exactly what needs to be done.
