That is the factory finish if you can beleive it......just got it on Thursday.
I have never seen another norinco product comparable to this pistol in fit and finish and I've had several different ones at one time or another. Finish is highly polished blue, no tool marks on exterior and 90% of sharp edges have been deburred. Even the inside is pretty good with the exception of the inside of the dust cover. I think they were training young Hoang on the milling machine that day.......I'll clean it up and reblue it someday just because it bugs me that everything else is so well done.
Nice looking "shooter" NAA,did you do the repark yourself? My USGI is currently wearing blue but I'd like return it to park. finish some day
(sorry 'bout the supersize pics guys, someday I will learn to run this machine )
Hitzy, I think this gun is a later Colt - 1944 I believe.
Someone told me its' original finish should be parkerized but I don't know for sure, its definitly not the original finish on it now in any event.
I'm not sure though what might have happened as it went through England (gun is marked "NOT ENGLISH MAKE" - maybe the blue finish was applied at this time??
Anyway it still shoots as good as my S 70 (as good as I can shoot either of them!) and its a GI issue Colt 8)
