2006 Canadian .50 Calibre Fun Shoot

reply

Dan - safety brief at 8:00am, followed by zeroing, 10:00am, competition begins, public shoot 2:00 - 5:00pm.

Max - we had about 100 people last year, by our best guess. About 50 folks "pulled the dragons tail". 20 rounds may be a bit much. Try a couple first.

Cheers,

~Ben

Are the conditions at the range similar to last year or is the property a little dryer due to the later event date and abundance of hot weather?

(Yeah I am curious about tracers)

Forecast says rain till morning then 20c and 20% chance of rain all day tomorrow. Pretty much the same as last year's shoot. I am heading to a freinds for the rest of today and then we will drive up overnight. See you guys in the morning.

It snowed, right? RIGHT!

Couldn't get rid of the on call phone.

Nope, sorry, no snow. The day just got nicer as it went on. Try and make next year's event, it's always interesting. I had to leave early because of work (yes, I know the joys of the "on call phone"), but it was a really good time, and well worth coming out for. - dan

If someone just wants to fire off a .50 round (or 20) just PM me, I take mine out to Genesee fairly often. All I ask is the cost of the rounds - or bring your own.

I wish I could have made the shoot; next year for sure.

I did not take any pictures this year. Ben and Tom will likely put pictures on the 50calshooters.ca website (free to view by everybody). Those guys as well as Rick deserve the credit for the shoot and also the website.

I did take a short video of Bill Goldberg (his real name was Dave .......) shooting a Ferret 50 off his shoulder while standing up! He handled it very well and is braver than me.

A teaser for the poor saps that had to work.
I'm sure Ben will have much better stuff up on the website

A great shoot. Lots to see, lots to shoot, lots of shared info on these big guns. A dealer from Calgary came with 8 rifles, and allowed any of us to shoot most of them.
Nice to see so many 50 cal shooters all at 1 place in Canada at 1 time. Kudos to the organizers!!
Can't wait till next year!!!
