2009 CGN Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot pictures and stories.

I'd love to but we are having our 3-gun match in the Hat next weekend, and since I'm the match director I should probably be there.
Truth be told I would rather shoot the gophers!

Is it too early to put my name in as a "Definitely coming" For next years shoot?
 
I just got a new to me rifle. I'll probably spend next weekend working up a load then take it out after some dogs. :(

I was asked by some folks on a colony to shoot some dogs. The coyote's have bred with the crazy dogs on the reserve and are now posing a risk. Thier approaching the houses and people but killing their sheep. I told them I'd take care of it, but I just hate how it sounds.
 
Absolutely gotta be home from 2pm to midnight on Saturday, so am trying to decide on whether to roll down Friday afternoon/evening for a short shoot or Sunday morning for a full day shoot w/hangover. Or both.

You don't really need to be there do ya Nate? I mean, it's not like the Match Director is necessary or anything. Optional sure, but necessary...? :p

Pharaoh, try to think of them as coyotes only. Might make it a bit easier if you take the dog portion out of the thought process.

Well next year it will be someone else's job. But since I had to cancel one match already this year I figure I should get this one out of the way...

Of course if you came and shot the match, we could be out of there by about three o'clock, and there is a really nice "gopher patch just 15 mins from the range...
Something to think about... :D

Yah, I was actually into the planning mode to head to the match (probably just as a spectator though) when wifey gently (not!) reminded me that our farm was the site and we were the hosts of this sioree. I was almost a chalk outline from even mentioning going back to Tompkins that weekend, but if I can get everything ready early here then I can still go shootin' there. :)

When's the next match? Might be able to swing one in late July/early August.
 
I went out gophering yesterday, and WOW! What a great shoot we had! Had a blast!


Pharaoh, I would be happy to help rid the Hoots of some doggies on another weekend :)


I was going to go shoot some yotes today...but we didnt get home until 9pm last night :D Im still tired!! LOL!!
 
Raining (finally!) like there's no tomorrow here. For some reason I feel compelled to grab a rifle and stand under a tarp beside a smokey fire with a beer in my hand.

I wonder why...
 
I'm picking up my new truck this week, so I'll be better able to deal with those soupy Sask roads. :)

I'd love to do another Sask shoot sometime. Unfortunately I've got a charity shoot this weekend (for STARS Air Ambulance) at our Trap Club - so I can't miss that. If you decide to have a shoot on a July weekend, let me know and I'll be all over it. I've got about 120 rounds of 204 that are burning a hole in my pocket, so to speak.

I stepped up my purchase plans after off-roading in the Intrepid when we were in Viking. LOL :D
