2011 CGN Saskatchewan gopher shoot. Thanks to everyone for coming!

I haven't read this forum all along but I can tell you that there is a shortage of GOPHERS out here this year, I don't want anyone to be disappointed. I've been out a few times and would have to say the population is down about 75%. I've talked to others around the province and they feel the same, and I don't know what would account for it, maybe flooded out or something.......Ben
 
This year I haven't seen near as many either. But there are a few hotspots still, you just have to spend a bit of time looking for them. If the only control measure out there is the annual hunt, I should think there will be plenty to be had. If not I know a few people near there that would probably be ok getting some help with their own gophers. Now if only the mosquitoes don't drive us off...
 
I take in the shoot kinda like I take in a branding.....The socializing and camping is awesome, the gophers are a bonus. If we get bored, we can always shoot clays again. :)

Agreed....Gopher shooting is just a bonus...We mainly go to watch each other get drunk :D

With the many TOWNSHIPS of land we have permission on, I am sure we can find a couple of gophers to shoot :owned:
 
What, I go there for the gophers and dread every moment spent by the fire with you guys.

Just kidding. I only go there for the extreme weather and bird sized mosquitos.
 
Heh. I don't drive 10 hours just to shoot gophers. It's all about who blows up the fire or who falls in the fire.

I'll be bringing a case of clays and I hope someone else brings a thrower. I think Kelly's arm is still tired from last year.
 
I think I have 2000 .22, 1500+ of .17HMR and 200 or so (or will) of .223. Plus 100 or so 12ga.

Will have the savage 223, ruger 10/22, HR .17HMR, a old semi .22 WinAuto(got 10shots for it to try!) and my Rem & win shot guns.. I think I am going to leave the MZ at home this year..

.17 hmr, .22, .223, 12g. I have plenty of ammo for each. I may bring the .244 for the "long range competition"
 
I will be bringing the 10/22 and my CZ .223. I haven't decided if I will be bringing anything else.
