2011 CGN Saskatchewan gopher shoot. Thanks to everyone for coming!

So only about 330 days left till the next trip!:D

I'm wondering if anyone ended up with an extra scope cap for a Burris scope. I seem to have come home with nothing over the windage adjustment on my .22-250...

Oh and I'm pretty sure I have found a piece of sched 80 pipe with an ID dangerously close to the size of a golf ball... :evil:

Im not sure whats gonna happen this year...wanna get that out right now. With my new job that I have I dont get alot of time off, and likely wont be getting any holidays....Also with the lack of gopher numbers at the 2011 shoot, there were concerns raised that a new location may be more suitable, if one can be found that has higher numbers.

And a few people raised the possibility of a different date be set for the shoot....For myself, I like the Canada Day weekend!! We pretty much all have that weekend free for a long weekend....
 
Sadly, probably the only time shooting gophers is going to be fan-freaking-tastic is in Late April/May/Early June. The grass is short, the gophers are stupid and the little ones can be running around later on.

The problem with those 8 weeks is the weather can be un-freaking-predictable. And by unpredictable I mean cold. With snow. And wind. Never (ever) too hot. Or too calm. Plus it's a crappy time for holiday 3 day weekends.

My vote/2 cents worth is to keep it on Canada Day. Odds are (slightly) better the weather might be decent, and with luck & a bit of scouting there might be a few decent gopher patches available. Besides, watching some of the fire related activities at night is far more entertaining than anything we can do to a gopher (sit down Pharaoh) with a rifle during the day. :D
 
think it would be worth exploring the country side a little more too, instead of the same fields getting hit hard year after year. i vot for moving it to mid june but no earlier. i also will probably be starting a new job before then but will do all i can to get it off, in fact planning to do like BC Linehand and come down a week early.
