2012 Member Saskatchewan Gopher Shoot.

Well, I'm bored.

Lets get started with the obligatory "What are you bringing this year" post.

For me, the 6mm will be making its debut this year, along with a few .22s and my .22 mag.

What about everyone else?

It looks like I won't be able to make it, so someone else can have my spot. Hopefully, I'll see you all next year.

Bah! You can make it over for at least one of the days no? Not like it's a long arduous trek through waist deep snow....

....

Hmmm. Nevermind. It might be.

If not though, at least wheel over for a tasty refreshment or a bite of roadkill.

Three new toys in the rack will probably make it this year...a TAC'd out Rem 700 in .223, a Cooper LVT 22LR, and a Savage Mark II TR in 22LR.

And the Mortar of course. With enough powder to make more than a half dozen shots too. :)

Unfortunately not; where I have to be that weekend is in the opposite direction.

A GIRL! and large quantitys of meat and booze. for guns my 700 ADL 222, a 700 VSF 220 Swift, Tikka T3 223, Winchester 1892 25-20 and a handful of assorted 22 LR's.. maybe the 20 bore again.

I brought a ton of guns last year and didn't shoot them all. have to make sure I shout more this year!
Bringing the .22 mag I didn't shoot and my .22-250 I shot 15 rounds through. My Varmint special 7mm08 that didnt make it iut of the trialer. And of course my 10-22 that I shoot a lot!

Also year I'm tossing my pre 64 Model 70 .300 H&H in for the plate out on that hill.

And rum. Always the rum. Maybe food.

This is a special year for us. As of today, February the 15th the long gun registry was dealt it's death blow. I invite all attendee's to bring their registration certificates, if they so choose for a certificate burning. Yes, I'm thinking of the children. ;) This is somthing we should never forget and as a result I'd like to do somthing memorable. It'll make for great pictures anyways. Provided of course the registry is in fact abolished in time for the event that is...

so did you save yours or bbq them already?

I have lots. Never threw any out, even for the guns I sold and have copies of every one still. I would like to save the one that says : Make unknown, model unknown, barrel length unknown....etc. The rest are fodder.

Hoping to be able to come for a couple days. Unfortunately my wife burned off her holidays looking after my sorry ass, while I was off with a busted leg, so it may be just the weekend (I drive her back and forth to work).

Camping arrangements may be questionable as I trashed my old tent last year (have to buy a new one) and I have to wait and see if my knee is up to ground camping this year. I guess if worst comes to worst, I can always sleep in the truck for a night or 2.

As for registration papers, I don't have a lot but I'll be happy to bring them for the bonfire!

KeithYWG and I are able to make it again this year. Lessons learned that stand out from last time: Shooting trees is fun and harmless, and COORS GOLDEN BANQUET > Rough Rider Pilsner. Also we'll have the hookah with us, since you all seem to enjoy harmless peach smoke so much. I assume the dress is Prairie Business Casual (ie realtree camo avec chew stain) again?

I added a countdown app to my iPod last night just for the gopher shoot this year.
I figure I'll leave about 10:00 am on the 29th so that makes it 2.56 months, or 11.17 weeks, or 78.16 days, or 1875 hours away.

Time can't go quick enough!

Kim. Have you heard what the gopher population is like out there yet this year? I'm up to 63 kills so far.

I'm lucky enough to operate a gas field out in some prime pasture land between the #1 and the Red deer river.
We aren't "supposed" to have guns in our company trucks, but there's no one around on weekends. And since I have to work every other weekend I figure I might as well enjoy it!
With the weather coming I should hit 100 by sunday. :)
