Am I seeing a neck shot exit wound AND a gut shot exit wound?
Not the best field pick, but got this fella at 120 yards with the ole 30/30. came out to 142lbs after field dressing, dressing and head removal. Nice way to end the whitetail season. Bring on the yotes and wolves..The past four years have been hard on the deer and a buffet to predators in this are of Alberta. I'm skipping out on the supplementals this year for conservation.
My 12 year old nephew got his apprenticeship card last winter and this was his very first deer hunt in my stand with my gun with me by his side. This big buck came right up the fence line to us head on at 20 yards, he put the first shot right in the boiler maker! Very proud of him! On a funny note, I had bought a bottle of Tinks Power Buck, synthetic dominant buck urine. I sprayed around the blind and the valve stuck open so I threw it in the bushes down wind in front of the blind. Not a half hour late this guy comes right in. The next morning in the same stand another big buck came in......I had let my uncle use my stand as he has never shot a whitetail and he didn't see it. From where we were sitting on day 2 we watched as the buck walked right past them lol

Awsome first buck for the young fellow. I know hunters that have hunted for 40 yrs and not even seen a buck of that calibre.
Very impressive!

This is my fiance's 5x4 whitetail buck she shot on Nov. 12th, 3rd day of our hunt, outside of rocky mountain house. This was the only deer we saw move all week, she got lucky! She shot it with a hand loaded 270 wsm 130gr Nosler Ballistic tip. The shot was 128 yrds and the deer dropped where it stood. Upon skinning the deer we actually recovered the bullet. It isn't a monster but for her first buck he sure is nice.
