2016 CDTSA Multigun Matches **critical UPDATE Post 251 ** SEPT Match

Extend start times, or have everybody there by 6.

It took all of 45 minutes to pack down? Shouldn't take more than 1.5-2 set-up & test.

Another option is raise event fees significantly and hire some help. Local farm kids, kids from town, uni-students, etc.

allowing non members to help set up I think is the best way to improve on setup for sure, last match, I came out Saturday with a buddy who is currently a non member, he wanted to help, but I told him he couldn't, so he just sat in the camper will the other 5 or so of us helped.....

Finally got off my ass and put my video together really quick.
My angle is screwed up though so you cant really see some of the targets but, meh, you get the point.

My fav is the 6:00 mark and getting to run the rifle fast. That first part sounded like the rifle burped.

Yeah, you spend days getting stuff together.
Full day at the match for 313.78 Seconds on the clock

PS Hopefully DV gets it as a joke and knows that we all seriously appreciate his help

No wonder you guys ask for more help! Those stages look like a lot of freaking work to set-up (not to mention you have to reset after every go).

I will stick to PRS thank you very much. Screwing together some 2X4s takes a lot less time.

Looked like a lot of fun.

OOOOOOOOOOO
Think about it. Run PRS and 3Gun on the same day. Make it so the PRS stage involves resetting the 3gun stages and visa versa while on the clock. Speeds everything up. :)

Million dollar idea. Thanks for volunteering Ryan!

That would be hilarious.

Engage 500M gong, run 200M, tape tagets and reset 3 steel targets, run 200M back and engage 300M gong off of barricade.

Hey All,

While running some of the bigger matches is southern Alberta we are getting the least amount of help. I have told everyone before that we really need more people to step up and help with the setup the day before.

With lack of interest though we may not be hosting these matches next year and even this upcoming match runs the risk of only partially being setup and being run as a half match.

So, I am pleading with you all, we need to get 10 volunteers to show up Saturday and help setup. Member or non member, doesn't matter, we will cover your guest pass if you need it and will cover your match fees as well. Please let us know if you are for sure in to help as we only need 10 people.

As for the rest of the match details.

Perfect round count is as follows

Pistol 48
Rifle 47
Shotgun 35
Slugs 3min 6 Max

So far slings are needed on Rifles.

Hope to see you all out there!

I am a bit confused about why CDTSA requires a Guest Pass for persons helping with the set up of props etc. for events. NFA Club insurance covers all shooters and spectators from liability in the event of an injury during an event or while working on the range for an event (but not working for compensation). Guest pass insurance coverage only protects a "shooter" and the club against liability from a shooters actions at the event.
I suggest you download a copy of the policy from NFA's website and read it carefully.

Good tip, i will do that to double check. We did assume. But it is irrelevent because we are saying that it is covered either way.

How late do you guys expect setting up to go till?

Tough call as it really depends on the amount of help that comes out. The last few times wrapped up at about 11pm.... but with milder weather, the sun setting so early and the hope of getting more help I'm really hoping no later 7-8. Camping on the range is possible if you don't want make the drive back and forth as well.

With an hour and a half drive each way and only starting set up at 3, it's going to go late. I don't see why you guys don't just shut down range use on Saturday to set up earlier in the day. I think for next year you guys should charge more match fees and hire some locals.

Being this is the first year doing it at Milo we had to guess as to when we needed to shut the range down. But, if no one shows up to help it doesnt matter because the regular crew cant do it all themselves regardless of time. Next year we can propose shutting it down the full day prior. But I dont think that is needed. If we have 2 additional people helping per stage. Each group would only need to setup one single stage, that could be done in an hour. It takes such a long time because we are getting the same 4 people TOTAL doing it all. (And one of them already quit because of lack of help)

We did talk about charging more and hiring locals. We would still need someone out there to supervise the setup and finding reliable locals is an unknown right now. After the match I will run into town and take with one of the store owners to see if they have an AGM or something like that we could post it at.
