2025 Waterfowl Season

All the farmers who have land that we hunt on get a sausage care package after the season. They are all very happy to see us.
We are often told that we don't have to ask permission, we recognize your truck.
I get much the same. "Just shoot me a text if you're hunting and I'll let anyone else asking it's spoken for" or I receive a call or text asking if I'm going to be hunting at X and if I say no I usually get asked if I'd mind if someone else asking can go!

Well I thought the north winds would have filled the basins with duck but that was not the case today lol. snow coming sat/sun/mon so that should get the birds moving. First day out of the year for duck and not productive but was a beautiful day in the reeds listening to marsh wrens muck about. Had a duck fly 15 ft infront of me about 7 ft off the surface of the water @ 715am... hard not to take that shot!!

It has been tougher this year finding hunts, with most birds still to the north, and many hunters looking for fields, but we finally got out today. Most of yesterdays 1000+ geese flew straight to the next field, but a few came our way, and we ended up with 15. Not a great hunt, but still nice to get out.

With very few dark geese and almost no ducks around, just loads of White geese then it's time to hone the skills on hunting the white devils. I think we are finally figuring out how to hunt them. This past week has been the most in your face consistent Snow Goose hunting I've experienced to date. ....Five 3 man hunts from this past week.

Great videos. Need to get a ShotKam this season for sure.

First day out in the Fraser Valley yesterday and got skunked. The rain is coming and the weather is getting colder though

I have yet to shoot with my shotkam on the gun. The migration has not arrived yet and until todays rain, most of the ditches and puddles are very low or dry. Temps are dropping to the north so hopefully we will see an influx of birds soon. Unfortunately us farmers got the corn off early and the cover crops have greened up the corn fields making them less attractive to waterfowl. We will see. Good luck out there.

You too, DFarmer. And good summary of the current conditions. I was in Abbotsford and Sumas was lower yesterday than I've ever seen it.

Ok feeling a little self conscious about this after seeing spank's haul, but at least the rain has come, water levels up, and the hunting in the Fraser Valley is picking up. Now just need the temperature to drop as the northern ducks haven't arrived in numbers yet.

Nicely done.
We went scouting Friday and found geese in a good spot. We went back Saturday to make sure that they were coming back and there wasn't a goose in the whole area. None in any of the 4 fields they were in the day before.
So no go for a Sunday morning hunt.

Here the birds have seen quite flighty. In this field today and not tomorrow. The driest I’ve seen. Low duck populations. Had many good shoots with lots of specs and canadas. Snows come in sometimes but are hard to pattern. Only 3 times did we limit out on ducks. Mostly mallards and pintails. All my meat is now at my sausage makers.

Mostly a bust in northeast BC. I've been out a total of 3 times, trying to make it work... but we're in year 5 of serious drought and all my normal hunting marshes are dry or nearly so (water's edge >50m from hiding cover). I've got a few, and did have a flurry of duck activity a couple weeks ago, but have generally switched to upland birds. Hoping for deep snow and frequent torrential rains in the future. It will be ugly & buggy when it comes, but we desperately need it.
