A snow goose hunt from back in October.

With the freezer full I'm finally getting a chance to work through the hundreds of hours of video footage from this past season. Here is something a little different than my usual stuff. Hunting over water...

We were out checking our usual spots for birds and found a field with several hundred cacklers in a good spot.
I had set up nearby 10 days prior and managed 3 , but with the season closing this weekend we decided to sneak up and jump them.
We managed to get within 25 yards. When they jumped we let them have it. It was a wall of birds. Two guys, 3 shots each and we had 17 birds down. The dogs had a blast. They average about 3.5 pounds each.

How does the snow goose meat compare visually and taste-wise compared to the Canadas?

Snowgeese are more tender and if you cut out the bruising and wash off all the blood and clots it can be very similar to beef if cooked in a stir fry. I don’t like Canada geese very much other than in sausage.
