22 ARC, the 22-250 killer

What does it do, that a dozen other ancient and existing 22 cartridges don't do already? Pad that up with handloading, which most of that market does already, and the answer is nothing.
The idea isn't that info doesn't have an application, because obviously it does. The issue is when the info becomes the application, as opposed to actually going and doing something.

R.

There are already cartridges that can hit those numbers and fit in an AR mag, do it that efficiently, etc?

I really don't see how this round means people don't actually do something either. Just a different tool to do those things with.

The "real world vs calculators" mentality is false dichotomy.

Should be good for Deer.

There would be some great bullets available for it for sure.

Still like the idea of a 223 with the fast twist as well, but at least with the ARC they come throated/twisted for heavies, magazine ready length and all.

Too many nice 223s out there with dumb twists.

They are just a barrel swap away.

The bolt face and feeding from the magazine is not conducive to rebarreling an old rifle to any ARC/Grendel. A 22/250 or 223 is easier with way more donor availability

Shoot hearts instead of paper and it won’t matter.

Maybe I want to shoot them with a 77 grain TMK, 70gr Barnes TSX or similar.

Maybe there's nothing to lose and only everything to gain by putting a barrel on a rifle twisted for those bullets.

Maybe the 1950s called and said they want their barrels back lol.

You can still hunt with gear that isn't stupidly designed or limited, you know ;)

Joel, I’ve been using 8 twist 233’s since 2007.

Bet we all have. Makes you really wonder why there are so many 1/9s and especially 1/12s (*cough* Remington *cough) out there even beyond 2007 lol.

Suboptimal products are not virtuous, even if one is "shooting hearts".

Because the masses don’t use 223’s for shooting 1000 yards.

Right, so might as well limit everyone and make sure they can't...when there is literally nothing to lose and everything to gain by speeding that twist up.

Heard heavier bullets work great at closer than 1000 yards too. Who woulda thought.

Nah lets defend using subpar barrels like its a benefit lol. Bizarre.

May 1 2020 killed competition with AR platforms in Kanada.

Regardless of better energy and wind drift, it just doesn't matter to a prohib in the back of the safe. If we're talking this new cartridge "killing" 22-250, it's not going to happen.

What makes more sense? Buying a 1:7 twist 22arc barrel, new bolt (to arc/Grendell bolt face ). Spending 》$1000 for a prohib in a cool caliber. Staying cool in the back of the safe.

Secondly, one could rebarrel a older 22-250 with typical 1:11, or 1:14 twist. Try a 1:9, or 1:8 twist, not limited to 223/556 coal in a AR. Lots of cool calibers to try, perhaps you couldn't push a 90gr vld, but lots of useful bullets. A 22-250 AI, would be cool. Want a deer round, how about 6.5 grendel, 250 Savage, and all the way up into 50-100 deer calibers.

Noone invented 22arc with Kanada in mind. We're the second biggest kuntry in the world, holding the population of Komifornia. If firearms and ammo sells here its a happy coincidence to these major corporations.

Joel, I have nothing to do with corporate Remington. If you want something to whine about start looking for your favourite twists and cartridges on left handed actions.

If you want a fast twist 223 then make it happen. That $1000 will be meaningless when you finally burn that barrel out.
