I need your help guys,
I am looking for a quiet pest control round for raccoons, is .22CB by CCI legal in canada? Where can i find some if it is? Also, is it powerful enough for this purpose?
Thanks in advance!

I picked up two boxes of CCI .22CB from Al Simmons in Hamilton. Each box of 100 rounds is 7.99. Very quiet but quite puny. They do punch through cookie tins quite well, but an organic target; that's a whole different ball game. Could work, no idea.

I'd suggest getting plain old subsonic. Simmons also had some Remington subsonics for 5.99 (50) if I can recall. They are hardly any louder than the .22CB out of my cooey model 60. They also cycle the action of a 10/22 but are a little louder as well in that setup.

with in 20yds they should do the job

check your regs you might need a licenced dog to hunt raccoon I know you do in Ontario but we need licences to do everything so who know's.

My father has a raccoon problem around his house and has asked me to take care of the problem next time im at his place. They've torn through his roof and made a home in his attic. He got pest control people to get them out, twice. They go through his trash everynight, and just last week killed and tore a cat apart in his driveway, so they need to go, without waking the neighbours.

I would say you would need perfect headshots. If you are in an area you need to be quiet, you also don't want to have to chase down wounded critters.
How about a .22 short? Cheap and easy to get.

Shorts vs CB's

Regular short ammo is quite loud compared to CCI CB load. I have some older longer barrel Winchester 22's and the longer the barrel the less noise they make.
The trouble with them is accuracy, because they are a 750 fps load. You should really re- sight in your rifle for that load, and you kill ratio will be much better. FS

I keep my old long barreled Marlin 81 DLX with aperture sight, sighted in for CB's. It's very accurate and so quiet that you don't need hearing protection.

The 10/22 for everything else.

You only need a dog to hunt raccoons at night, not during the day. And the dog needs to be licenced too.

He's not hunting, he's pest controlling.

I'd try trapping them as well. Increase your odds. Although it's not as fun.

Use a live trap, easy to catch them in it and perfectly safe for little dogs, cats and kids. No law suits down the road.
If you catch him put a blanket or tarp over the cage and direct exhaust from your car under it.

CCI CB will be fine if you are close. 50 ft (15 meters) would be a good guideline. Frontal position, use headshot; for a side shot aim for the neck just below the ear.

Even if it don't kill him he won't be back any time soon.
