.22 CB vs raccoon?

A woman I know is a farmer in Ontario.
She raises chickens.
About once a week she sees a humaine society [or similar] van parked in front of her property, releasing racoons.
The racoons of course make a bee-line for her chickens.
So she live traps them again,
and kills them.

End of story. Sleep tight kids.

May I suggest a TOZ-8 single shot bolt action and Aquila SSS 60 grain LR.
Quiet and effective!

Bullet placement is key. I once had to shoot a rather large (30 pound) male raccoon at a less than perfect angle. From behind I tried for the base of his skull, my first two shots missed the intended target & skidded along his skull/jawline and came to a stop near his chin. A closer and better line-up, finally severed his spine with the third and final shot.
I was using CCI stingers.
Not one of my better days as a hunter!

I know a guy who had racoons coming in through his cat door. Got into his stores and pet food bags. Said a full burst from an airsoft gun he kept by the door to the deck with a high cap mag had the the f%$ker screaming down the block and never seen again. 2 years, no return. Fast learners?

You want quiet.

I need your help guys,
I am looking for a quiet pest control round for raccoons, is .22CB by CCI legal in canada? Where can i find some if it is? Also, is it powerful enough for this purpose?
Thanks in advance!

There are four elements to the noise produced.
1. The muzzle blast.
2. Any (supersonic) ballistic crack.
3. The mechanical movement of the action of the firearm.
4. Wailing and crying from a wounded raccoon.

Muzzle blast can be minimized by a barrel long enough to ensure complete powder burn. Ballistic crack can be prevented with the use of subsonic ammunition. A single shot firearm, or a bolt-action firearm, can be quieter than a self-loader. But you already know this...

Believe me, the noise from the firearm will seem insignificant compared to the noise from a raccoon that has not been killed cleanly. After hearing the verbalized trauma of a wounded - but not dead - raccoon, even 12 gauge from a 12.5" barrel might seem like a quiet pest control round for raccoons.

I have never tried cb's but have good luck with cci's 22 shorts, nice and quiet if they are not plated(copper washed) or jacketed, and to keep the noise down shoot a bolt gun, hold the noise in better that
