They did examine one. It loked like an MP5 and had no internal works. They called it as they saw it. You have to prove it is not a prohib they dont have to prove it is, beyond it looks like an MP5.
Your saying that I can carve any prohib out of plastic send it to the mounties saying "I promise it wont be a prohib when I make a real one" and they are gonna just hand you an FRT#. Dream on.

Obviously the techs are giving a fair shake to new guns as they come to market or half my locker would be considered prohibited and I 'd have a lot more money LOL!

I'm not saying anything other than what I've said. That is, they should have reserved classification until such time that they had an actual working production unit in their hands for technical evaluation.

C'mon dude. You must be a cop, right?

Face the facts. They jumped the gun on this (pun intended) in their rush to judgement based purely on aethetics and not much more. Since no units were commercially available for import into Canada there was no impending consequences of leaving the GSG-5 as unclassified.

The RCMP tech branch's professionalism has been questioned a number of times over the years. One only has to remember the Walther G22 fiasco of recent memory to question their ethics.

I agree classification should have been reserved until the actual firearm in question was present.

LOL, Even if I wanted to be (and I Was lots younger) they would 'nt hire me cause I 'd want to spend all my time tracking down drug dealers, child abusers and thieves. I don't think that fits with the mandate these days.

I also believe the companies involved should have put in more effort and provided the correct sample with full working inards. They screwed up.

Are you seriously pointing fingers at the RCMP about being biased? :p

Like myself and others have said, many of the firearms in our collections would be prohibited if your allegation was truly correct. The evidence pretty much dismisses your theory.

So I ask again, are you going to man up when this firearm is reclassified? Or will you do the, move on to the next topic routine and pretend you were still right? I only ask because you're making some pretty distastfull allegations towards the RCMP by claiming they are Biased, unethical and insinuating they are incompetent. Keep in mind there are people on this board who work for that police force.

Sometimes trade shows have mock ups to generate interest. From what I understand they got a paid junket to the SHOT Show, and the "examination" was simply walking over to the table. That is not thorough or fitting. It is like saying an MP5 toy sold in dollar stores is prohibited. It's farcical.

If they do their job and deem it unprohibited, perhaps they should apologize?

While we are at it, is this the same learned bunch that called a Hi Point Carbine a bullpup?

yeah but that gun is ugly, if a mistake was going to be made it could a been worse!

if a gun is unclassified in canada, can you still attain it legally?

Any new gun going into the registry needs a classification and an FRT#. That is why there is all the intrest in the CFC/GRC techs ruling on the classification. If it remains classed as a prohibited weapon we'll all be stuck trying to keep hordes of bean cans at bay with far less cool looking 10/22s and cooeys.

IMHO It will get reclassified and we'll all rush out to buy one, play with it for while, then go back to shooting our favored standby guns and wait anxiously for the next new toy.

Other than the looks, I fear it may be underwhelming.

very likely will be and looks don't count for much after the novelty wears off. Lets hope though it turns out to be a quality rifle that gives 1000s of rounds of trouble free service.

Pretty much. I'm passing on this one. I'll stick with my Ruger 10/22. Or get a VZ-58.

It can still get re-classified , after it's classified . I legally aquired and registered a Feather AT-22 , and then it got re-classified and siezed because it looked evil . I'll buy a GSG 5 anyway and hope that it doesn't get re-classified , after it has been classified if the present classification gets overturned . In the meantime i have a pistolgrip and a full buttstock for my 8.500" Dlask shotgun depending upon which way the classification goes and i used to hunt with my C/A's until they got re-classified and now i can't even take them to the range. If you want to be an RCMP firearms tech is there any qualification except for a Liberal party membership card and a copy of Gun Digest to circle the evil looking ones ?

I can't wait till we get our hands on the GSG.

Partly because I want one, but mostly because I can't wait for this thread to die :D

*To clarify my statement, I am not a representative of Blue Line or TSE and am in no way involved with the importation/selling process.

Download the PDF copy of the user manual for these guns, it has all specs and a whack of other good information in there.
