222 rem carry around rifle

I have a Sako AI in 222 remington, one of the few rifles I will NOT part with. It is the varmint version so it has a heavy barrel, but it relation to other heavy barrel rifles this one is a sweet heart to carry. Nice bluing, walnut stock, and it has the period correct Sako rings. Shoots well, still searching for the one hole group but that is more likely the operator than the rifle.

I too have rifles and cartridges that are dear to my heart, makes no sense but I like what i like, don't care if it is from the 1950s or the 1920s or whenever, they are just as effective now as they were then.

You need a 221 fireball in a rem 700 classic.

I loved both my Rem 788 small bores, one .222 & one .223. The .222 was the more accurate for me of the two. I only wish Remington had kept making the 788 along with keeping the .222 chambering in their rifles , but with a 1 in 9 twist.
 
I hunt with 5 guys that all use Remington 788 .222rem.

They have used these rifles on groundhogs, foxes and coyotes for 40 years. Great accurate guns.

Now, hunting wide open farm land where 300- 400 yard shots are possible, I'm glad I own a .22 250 and .243.

.222rem kills them fine, it's just more hold over needed past 200 yards.

I may know where a T3 Hunter SS in .222rem is if your interested.
