That's 5 dead gophers! Just a thought though, are you measuring group size from the outside of both of the furthest bullet holes? It looks to me like you are shooting better than 1.378" groups, since group sizes should be measured from the points of impact, or centre to centre (since larger diameter bullets would yield a disproportionately larger group size). By that logic, your actual group size is 1.154". Sorry, not trying to be an azzhat just an observation :)

wow nice shooting PF

Right after my grouping at 100 I moved back to the 200 and as soon as I got set up the wind started to gust like you would believe. I shot two groups and started to swear my frinken head off. lol Glad I was in the middle of no where. heh

Well I made up a few more rounds for tomorrow morning. I hoping to get out real early because it suppost to be like 31-32 out tomorrow and me'sa dont like the heat to much. :)
Had to take a pick of my little soldiers

yeah there 2.42 and thats 20 thou back

My lands are 2.45 area. Most my other loads are 2.392" to fit the mag. When I was starting out the hornady superformance shot very good for me so I just used the col of the box I had. Works out very well for me for a few thousand of them so far.

Cool cool thx

Maybe Ill try bumping them back in a bit and see if it effects anything.

Didnt get out this morning because I just go over a bad cold and now the wife has it and wanted to stay home today. :( Oh well next weekend is a long weekend.

Is it a bad thing that Im wishing that it was december already, so I can get out shooting some winter yotes? I hope it aint a bad year for snow like last year. arg that sucked

Just reading through here and thought I would add this, take your decapper out of your dies and polish the expander part of it with metal or chrome polish. Just chuck the spindle in a drill and use a cloth with some polish on it, you don't need to reduce the diameter of the expander button, just polish it to a shine. You will still have to use some neck lube once in a while but should be less of an issue.

I found that neck sizing improved accuracy a little. Trimming is virtually unnecessary and you don't need lube at all for that. The load that works for my 12 is 26.7 grains of Varget pushing 55 grain Hornady bulk soft points. My best groups have been about a dime at 100yds at 28x if I do my part. The 8-32 Mueller I put on it helped too. It's not a rifle to drag around after gophers though.

Hey cool thanks for the tip

Well I had a chance to to get out this weekend and do alittle shooting.

For some crazy reason I couldnt shoot worth a crap from 100. Best I could manage was a 1.75" grouping. Does that happening to you guys sometimes? Dont know what the deal was.... 200yrds wasnt the greatest either, but for some reason 300 was the best of all of em. No idea how that works...

Heres my first grouping from 300. Was shooting 4 rounds since I have a Stevens 200. Pulled one in the grouping

So me being new to the reloading scene and really having fun with it, I wanted to see what another bullet would be like. Went out to see if I could find some SBK's but came home with some Speers 50gr TNT's. Well now that I have two types of bullets and two types of powders I made a pile of new rounds to try out for our next outing. So..... when I came home and opened up the box of TNT's I was like WTF, how are these going to stay on the casings when Im trying to load em. Had one hell of a time loading those little guys. $#^%^%#@#@&* Is there some trick to setting them on the case before pressing them in??? The best way I found is just to set them on very gently and trying to get them as straight as possible. Is that the trick for getting them to stay? lol

Kind of excited to see how these shoot now. I guess Ill just have to wait for the weekend. :(

cheers

Hold the bullet over the case mouth as you raise the ram until the tip of the bullet is in the die then seat as normal. Your fingers won't fit in the case so don't try to seat them in there too!

Another thing I do is start the bullet in the case sloooowly. Raise the ram about 1/3 of the way, rotate the shell 1/3, raise 1/3, rotate 1/3.....repeat until the bullet is seated.

I know it sounds anal but it seems to work for me.

When I get the cash I'll get a runout tool to measure if it's necessary but until then I think it's the best way to maintain concentricity.

cool cool thx

maybe these tnt's wont shoot for me so I wont have to worry about it anymore. lol Not likely though. Theyll probably shoot the best just to piss me off. haha
