22LR bolt-action recomendations

Savage MkII would be an excellent choice. I also have a CZ 452 LUX. Both are extremely accurate and well made but the MKII is a better bang for buck IMHO. The stock is nicer on the LUX but the Accutrigger is amazing on the MKII. If your planning on using a scope I'd probably recommend the MK II over the LUX.
If you aren't married to a bolt action, my Henry .22 octagon barrel lever action is by far the most enjoyable to shoot out of my .22s.

Just had my 452 Varmint out this morning to get it dialed in, and I'll tell you one thing... I've never shot a more accurate .22 in my lifetime. As Jrossi90 said though, if a bolt-action isn't set in stone for you, I too would give a good look at a lever-action. SOOO much fun! I've put about 3000 rounds through a Golden Boy I picked up 3 or 4 months ago. Something about cycling a nice, smooth lever-action! Same can be said for a really smooth bolt gun too I suppose.

I'd say CZ 45x in whatever "variation" suits you, Ruger 77/22 as they are really nice firearms, or a Savage if you'd like to invest a bit more in optics or ammo to feed the thing!

*or a lever-gun for sheer rimfire enjoyment!

marlin xt lot of rifle at a budget price ,mines a tack driver ,if you don't like synthetic stock slap a boyds on it for 100
and your still half the price of many less accurate
I start and end every range trip with mine
love it

It's easy to fix, but for such a nice gun the CZ 452 triggers are brutal out of the box..... not sure about the newer ones.

Guiltyspark,

What kind of shooting do you do with the kids?

Right now it's just shooting balloons, fruits and veggies and zombie targets with. 22s

I found a nice Savage mk2 but it's $550 ouch

How's your vision?
For a reactive plinker I'd suggest good iron sights (peep) or a red dot and I'd consider lever's and pump action guns as well.... :)
So many good options out there for a .22lr fun gun.

Mine are pretty good. I think the ones on the 455's I had were worse. I have a 452 lux(2013 stamped) and an american (2010 stamped) with pretty good triggers. They are not match triggers but not creepy or heavy either.

For $550 can easily get into a cz. And for that money you are getting a better built gun.

CZ triggers aren't complicated to alter.
Where in the heck izz that Yo-Yo chap when ya need him?
He's got a prisckripshun tuh remedy those triggers.

and the CZ will make a real hand down family heirloom, that can't be said for the savage, I'd be embarrassed to hand one of those to my neighbor let alone family.

Get the older (pre 1970) CZ with the different spelling-Brno. 1st choice Model-5, 2nd choice Model-1 (sporters) the Model-3 and 4 are great bench guns and I hear the Model-2 is good too. In any event, there is lots of great advice in this thread...good luck!

The savage mark 2 heavy barrel with synthetic stock and scope should be about $250-$300. Decent quality but not a show stopper. My parents have had one since the 80s and it was only $100.00 then . Still a good shooter. The henry golden boy is a nice hand me down type of gun . More of a DADS gun. The type of gun where the kids will feel special that you are letting them shooting it.

This one caught my eye.
