Does anyone know anything about these? Manufacturer, barrel length, configuration?

March 8th 2008 - We have finally found a .22lr conversion for the AR-15 platform that works! This is a Complete Upper (not a parts exchange system) which is why it actually works as advertised... the entire upper was designed to work with the .22lr cartridge... uses a blow-back system for bolt operation and doesn't utilize the buffer or spring in your stock (nothing to change or modify). The result is a fully functional .22lr conversion that is as simple to install as changing your upper. Pop your old upper off (two pins) and pop the AR-22 upper on... insert the magazine (there's one included) and you're good to go. We have a shipment expected to arrive May/June 2008 and price is currently set at $779.00... order yours today and don't miss out... these won't last long!

EDIT: I wonder if they are Spkie's Tactical? I've emailed and asked.

i heard someone saying they were tac inc... i think. was in a previous thread.

IMO unless you are going to keep the upper stock you are better off getting spike to build you one and questar to import it, not going to cost you any more than buying theres + upgrading parts is, maybe less

What mag capacity options do these kits have?

Looks like they come with one Black Dog 27rnd mag, which can also be purchased from Brownells.

I pre-ordered for 1. :D. I went with the varmint/target model. I'm planning on putting a Falcon Menace 4-14x 44mm on it with quick detach rings, so I can replace it with an Eotech 552 when I want CQB practice. I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm in the midst of ordering a Stag rifle, so that takes care of the lower for the .22. I also ordered 2 extra mags for the .22. This should be a lot of fun.

Almost $800.00 bucks for that!!! Damn I'll build my own for less than half that...No thanks

$100-250 will buy you the ciener kit with the chamber adapter. You sacrifice a bit of accuracy but for a plinker why not.

The spike upper is a ciener kit with a .22lr barrel designed to rid the adapter and chamber straight into the barrel.

spike just finished there rework of it, no more ciener kit its all their design now

After reading the reviews, and reliability issues with the kits. I decided to avoid the ciener kit like the plague. If you're just looking for a plinker then sure it'll work.

Also after reading the feedback on the Tactical Solutions stuff with their other products. I don't think this upper will be just a plinker. I suspect it will be able to rival my Ruger 10/22 target model. I could be wrong but that's the feeling I get. Since I'm getting the flat top, I plan on running a scope on it with quick release so I can swap on an Eotech. This way I can practice aimed precision shots, especially indoors during the winter, and quick tactical style shooting mainly outdoors on the pistol range against the metal targets or silouttes during the summer.

I think this upper will fit that dual purpose perfectly. For me I'm willing to spend the extra money to avoid a lot of the common problems with the other sollutions.

never realy understood the point of .22 upper, its still restricted and if you want to shoot an Ar at an indoor range just buy a 9mm upper.9mm is cheap to shoot. 700 $ would buy you a new Krinker

Do most indoor ranges allow rifles if they shoot pistol ammunition?

krinker isnt identical to the AR controls, and .22 is even cheaper than 9mm, plus lots of indoor ranges dont allow 9mm but will allow .22.

why do people buy .22 conversions for 9mm pistols? same deal

It's a lot cheaper to shoot .22. $12 for 500 rounds. Also there are no mag restriction limits. You can load up 27 rounds with the Black Dog mag. Rather than a maximum of 10 for the 9mm.
