.22lr upper from Questar?

In a recent surfing of the net, I came up with a couple of AR related sites where members have had performance problems with their Tactical Solution
.22 uppers. If we end up with a "problem child", who is set up to do the warranty work in Canada?

We will deal with issues if they are the result of manufacturer defects or problems.

Everything I've read has been very good on these... most "issues" tend to be ammo related, which is not uncommon with .22 guns, uppers, accessories, etc..

Don't know what else to tell you.

Is a flat top 20" 22lr upper going to be available?

Who knows? I don't want to guess what "may be" in future... that would be pointless. I don't know what various manufacturers may or may not be planning to come up with down the road... even if it was released in future, who knows if we'll be able to get them and get export permits for them.

What we have available is detailed on our website.

We do not have a 20" version.

So what's the surprise lower? We should find out before the uppers ship in case we want to add to the order.

We're still working on it... unfortunately US State Department has yet to approve them (the lowers) for export so we've had to go back and make changes.

If we get something approved then we'll announce it, but until then it's just an idea that may never come to pass.

why not get dlask to make the lowers?
have you asked them?
it would be cool to get a cool gun and support 2 canadian companes at the same time :)

SWEET! :D Questar emailed me to let me know my upper is in and ready to be paid for and shipped. :D

Just want to let you guys know that we've had some intermittent issues with one of the units we kept here. We're still trying to nail down exactly what's wrong and why it's acting up... factory is working with us to determine the cause and a fix.

It's not an issue with all units so most of you will have no problem... however... if you do have any problems with your unit please document what occurs, type of ammo, etc. and email the info to me so that I can pass it on to the factory techs.

Thanks

Mark

One of the rare issues I've read about with these .22 uppers is when they are used with match triggers. IE the RRA NM. At least this is what I've read.

I had the same issue (FTF) with my DPMS .22 upper on top of my colt lower with a JP match trigger. The light hammer spring just didn't cut it. I put the upper onto my stock Armalite lower and it worked 100%. I really wanted a match trigger to go along with the .22 upper.:(

Now, I under there is the Geissele trigger that Arms East carries that doesn't invovle the hammer spring so I'm hoping to try that out when finances permit. BTW, these .22 uppers are a blast. Mine will shoot .5" at 50yds benched with good ammo (Eley). The biggest problem is that they eat bricks upon bricks of .22 ammo and there's no stopping them once they start eating. You pretty much have to run out before they'll let you case them and take them home for a cleaning.:p

My recommendation: Buy plenty of mags.;)

Here it is. The quality seems very nice. It has the same markings on the forging as my CMMG upper does. The color of the anodizing matches closer to that of my DPMS lower, the CMMG is a bit glossier.

Barrel length is slightly longer than my CMMG 14.7" barrel, about a 1/4", but still looks like an M4.

The hand guard is also smaller. I really like how it feels, I always thought the one on the CMMG was a bit bulky.

I have some .22lr dummy rounds I loaded up and cycled through. I had to cycle it faster than my Atchisson MKII conversion kit for it to feed properly. It will probably cycle fine when it use.

Here are some pics. It's the one on the top without the carry handle.

Now it's on the bottom, with the carry handle.

The bolt installed. A nice touch about the dedicated upper is the dust cover closes, unlike when using my Atchisson MKII in my CMMG upper.

Some close ups of the bolt.

Here it is all together. I have one of my black BDM mags in it. The TacSol came with a smoke colored BDM mag, I prefer the look of black, but it did come with BDM's new bolt-hold-open follower. Earlier I modified the followers in my BDM mags to hold the bolt open.

I havnt had a chance to do anything with mine yet, but one thing I did notice is the mag that came with it has a different follower (it sticks up more)
and the extra one I bought has a follower that is flush with the top of the mag.

Is your the same, I`ll have to ask Mark about this. I totally agree just looking and touching it so far it looks like a quality item.
