234 Wildcat Family....ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

This has been and continues to be one of the most enjoyable and interesting threads on CGN, so refreshing to read without the name-calling and slagging common to other threads.
I haven't been following it very closely and I do apologize for contributing nothing but I do have a ' wish list '.
It seems like the current list of suggested rounds does not include a rimmed case and for that reason I would be very tempted to build a Ruger # 1 on the 303 British case necked down and blown out in .234.
A nice lightweight walking-around type rifle perfect for coyote / deer hunting ?

And I'm very excited about the August '15 get together, so many dear friends together at the same time.... Douglas M, Marshal A, Johnn P, Down East Doug, Looky, and hopefully several more.... should be absolutely great !

You know Kevan that is always a possibility, another with a more compatible case capacity might be the good old 30-30 AI down to 234 and shorten the neck to 1 caliber. Should give equivalent ballistics to the Lynx if not better...........On the Brit case should equal the Penguin though...................HHHMMMMMMMMM

I'll give him a 'general plan' heads up at our next coffee session. Just to give him an idea of the basic intent and take it from there. With enough lead time, I can fit it in almost at any time. ;)The beauty of retirement. I'll start 'working' on Potsy.

Potsy Up date:

Haven't heard back from Potsy but at coffee this morning I was told he and his son are away for a few days of R&R so I haven't heard from him. I'll give you a shout as soon as he's back.

This will definitely be at my BC property, north of Creston on the Kootenay Lake. Depending on Doug's time frame, next summer sometime. Looks as though August might work for Doug..........that gives me a little more than a year to get my ducks in a row and get everything made up. Should be doable.
Does the 23rd fall on a weekend by any chance..........how terribly apropos !! I just checked and sure enough 22 and 23 of Aug is a weekend.........

What's the general consensus on Aug 22-23 2015?

Sounds like fun. I have some friends in the area and may be nearby around that time. If so, I'll stop by to check out the 23's. I don't have any real use for one but I will shoot just about any cartridge, even a belted .375! ;)

This will be a totally non-partisan gathering Gate and all are welcome...........I would even look forward to meeting you. Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion and a good debate.............as long as we are all pro gun we are brothers..........nothing says brothers can't have a difference of opinion. But please do bring the PINK TUTU.........it is so you........

If I do end up there for that time period I'll certainly stop by. Good chance of it as my friends and I were just chatting the other day about a visit.

I like the look and performance potential of the Lynx... but the first suggestion to get me excited is the .234-Turdy/Turdy! In a Ruger No.1... I have plenty of donors for that project... might even cough-up an RSI... love the .30/30 case... and a .234 bullet might reveal its potential.

There ya go Hoyt, and you can name it whatever the hell you want......................Puma, Cougar, Pussy, Ocelot, Smilodon, Leopard, Jaguar..........:)

I dub thee... ".234 Harlot!"

She'll have ###y lines (no sharp AI angles)... a true turdy-turdy necked down, with no other changes... the die set will come with a step die for brass forming... and the kids will get excited for that mountain of brass on grampa's workbench... might even stop playing "Grand Theft Auto" in favour of the range...

Here's her sharp sister! A 23-30/30 Ackley from the early sixties.

Supposedly she drove 80 gr bullets at 3600 fps, and I believe it. The old man didn't fool around!

Lookylike you could shuv one in each ear for ear dampning effect and still have a kupple rounds spare.

Gaaaaaaaaaaad, I'd sacrifice me Marlin tree tree six for that kewl factor alone.

So Hoyt, if the standard sleek 23-30 (will look a lot like a 25-35) is to be known as the Harlot, then the fat big sister (being the AI version) would become the 234 "Prude" ???

IME there ain't nothin' "pruddish" about the big gals Douglas... how about the ".234 Lotta Luvin'" (.234 LL for short...) ;)

And don't that 23-30/30 AI looky sweet! Imagine her getting her soft curves back... she'd be a beauty...

I just know, that I don't want to know how you know this...........;)

23/30-30AI = 5.8X51R AI Na that's just way to much to say in one mouthful..........maybe 234 Harlot AI
