Patience my friend, patience..........it will happen when I get back south. Just checked on my N&Trs and they're still a couple weeks out.
I have been perusing various sites selling barrels, I'm curious what price I should ask for rifled blanks and contoured barrels. Interested in opinions, all my barrels will be stainless, annealed and stress relieved, 1-8 twist. Not marketing any right now but thinking down the road, when I am set up and making them for sale. I know what Marshal paid for his Kreiger 234 barrel and what similar barrels go for but I do have some flexibility.
i believe that when i was building my last custom rig i paid appx $300 for a contoured rks barrel. not sure if thats in your realm of possibilities after accounting for your time and materials but with all the effort you've put into this project you at least need to make a reasonable amount on the barrels that would be selling
The truth is, on the scale you are working, any price is going to be a money losing proposition... the question is less what is it worth and more, what are folks willing to pay... I would say if you get too much over the $400 threshold you will start getting glazed eyes and "umms and ahhs"...
I'm definitely in for a Handi Lynx... anyway of checking with your guy to see if he can work around the barrel lug? Probably go the rebored .22/250 route if that were possible?

I think the only way to do it Hoyt would be to stub an existing barrel and bore it and then silver solder or thread the stub and install a new barrel. Or possibly use a shotgun stub and just solder a new barrel into the cut off chamber of a 12 ga stub, the same way some guys have made double rifles.
The problem is you can't button a tapered barrel, and my button is designed for a 1.25" to 1.315" dia blank hard to say what you might get with thinner walls...........certainly a tapered bore but not sure which way it might taper.
If a guy could buy an extra heavy barrelled 22-250 varmint barrel it might be possible............on second thought, just not possible with the tooling I just used, would need some major mods to accommodate the lug...........Stub a lug would be the easiest and best in my opinion. I would be willing to give it a try maybe this winter, I have done similar things before, just not this specific job. I'm fairly certain I could bore and thread a stub and then installing a barrel and doing the extractor cut is child's play once the stub is bored and threaded.

I've done two stubs in the past... if stubbing was the only route I would be more inclined to pick up an X7 or other donor action and barrel that... make life easier... but the Lynx is definitely the one I would go with... probably in a #3 or #4 contour... load it to the nutz...
Actually HuntNL that would be akin to cross gendering, I've been thinking about this and we have represented the high north with the Lynx, the extreme south with the Penguin. I'm thinking something in the middle like maybe the 234 Capybara, or the 230 Hyrax. I think I'm really leaning toward the 230 Hyrax. Kinda represents another obscure species on another continent.
That should really get the Alta COs going.......a rifle with 230 Hyrax inscribed on the barrel.
They actually have lynx in Africa as well but we in the north envision a different animal when we hear Lynx. However a thought just came to me..........if I was in Africa again, I could shoot a Hyrax with a Penguin and use it to bait a Lynx..........
Or there's always the extremely politically incorrect 230 Chimp...........disgusting, nasty, aggressive little forkers that they are..........
I've also been considering renaming the Pipsqueak to the 23 Spotted Owl.................

Hyrax would be a great name for it. The species is closely related to the elephant of all things.
Well Hawk, I did say it was obscure................and I severely doubt you are alone in your search.........
I shot several one afternoon, with a 300 WM.........lots of fun, PH bet I couldn't hit it at about 400 mtrs..........it was early in the hunt..........PH lost. Then I had to crank another 3 or 4 to prove it wasn't sh!thouse luck..........shots at game got longer after that, now that I think about it.......

The real question.....WHich one will become the KING of the .23's?
That's an easy one Gate, the Penguin for sure...........not the biggest nor the most efficient, but certainly the coolest.......
That day is on the horizon d4, when I get the family all made and have dies and brass and loads all worked up, I intend to throw out an invitation to all who wish to attend and have a weekend of shooting with the 23s (and what ever else in my vault that knots your panties). I have 34 acres and plenty of room for campers and motor homes or tents, whatever, and a big fire pit for evenings and stories. Everybody bring your own burgers, steaks, sausages, and we'll have a couple barbeque evenings, some sundowners and a lot of fun.
