So open a thread about those. This is about long distance shooting. Respond to it.
Actually, you did. Go back and check. I responded to your statement "Takes critters a lot longer to die from a bow shot then a gun shot." as some sort of ethical argument.
And your google efforts have proved the femoral artery is considered a legitimate lethal target for bow hunters, but there is controversy about the ethics of it because it is hard to hit it. THAT is exactly what I said.
Please read this twice before you respond.
The point you're missing is that there are many ways to put meat in the freezer and people can debate at length what constitutes ethical practices and what doesn't. You obviously do not agree with killing elk at 700 yards and I'm sure there are people out there that don't agree with jumping out of a truck and killing a moose on the road. One is alot easier to do than the other and one requires much more skill than the other. Let people decide on their own.
I'm going to go back and check if it was me or you that said a bullet in the femoral artery won't work but an arrow will....ok I checked. It was you after all! Imagine that.
My google efforts also proved that a 338/416 Rigby in a 45 pound bench gun with a military class laser range finder is a legitimate lethal combination on elk at 2000 yards and further but there is controversy about the ethics of it because it is hard to do...
Google will tell you many things. Do we care what google says? Hunt however you want in accordance with your skill set and equipment. I am 100% sure that there are many more deer wounded each year shooting offhand at moving targets, 30/30's, muzzle loader rainbow trajectories, arrows, "brush buster" calibers (they don't deflect right?), super magnums, flinching from shooting said cannon, schitty scopes, lack of practice (hunting ammo is expensive right? 3 shots before heading out should do it) etc. than all the longrange hunting put together.
Cheers
