25 Creedmoor Thread

Have you ever had issues with the Canadian barrels. I was speaking to a gunsmith, he said all Canadian barrels are crap.

I’ve used barrels from ibi, ks arms, crb, bartlein, benchmark, brux, hells canyon, kreiger. I can tell you absolute certainty that I’d look for another gunsmith. Having a preference to say bartlein or benchmark over a Canadian barrel is fine, if you’ve had good luck or success with them then I get it, you’ve built trust in that product. But to say they are crap is a joke. Some of the best shooting barrels I’ve ever seen were ks barrels. Ibi barrels have won the last 2-3 years at the v2 finale (top shooters in the states/canadian).

Hi everyone, I am new the forum. Glad someone started this thread as I am looking to build a 25 creedmoor off a Rem 22-2250 action that I have. Looking for any recommendations on a barrel to use and where to get it in Canada. Any advise is welcome.
Since you are new, I assume you meant 250 Savage AI? It's been around since Newton designed the 250-3000 for Savage around 1917: some "designers" in the 21st merely plagiarized and slapped on it the name of a once famous range from Long Island.

And Gary Eakin at Bighorn (BC) can set you up with a .257 cal barrel: Benchmark is a fine contender.

I am not sure why are state the Creedmoor is plagerized, it is a necked down 6.5 Creedmoor which is based off the 30TC, not the 250 /3000.
As far as the name goes, the history of the reason the 6.5 Creedmoor was designed and why the name was chosen is interesting , and it didn't come out of the Hornady advertising department as most people think.
if I were to chose between the two, shooting factory ammo is an option for the 25 Creed, not so with the 250AI
Hell,I don't even own a rifle in a .25 caliber cartridge anymore and have no intention of owning another one, I think I'll just sit back and watch.......

You can shoot factory ammo in a 250 AI. Good luck finding some though. I've owned a few 250's over the years, std and improved. Great cartridge, but not easy to find ammo for anymore. The CM will certainly be easier in that regard. - dan

Yes you can Dan, but there is a reason you can't find factory 250 AI- because it was never made.
I owned one for while in a Highwall action, fun cartridge, but you are absolutely right the easy button for sure would be the 25 Creedmoor if a person was to look at owning either.

Thanks guys for the beating. So I have spoken with JC barrels and IBI, Leaning toward IBI, but a little concerned over the 1:7 twist, was hoping for 1:7.5. Any issues with shoot 100gr + bullets from the 1:7?

Also not sure if a heavy .92 or a medium .82 contour is best
For NRL Hunter, my barrel is a 26" M24. It's on the heavy side so I off-set it with a very light HNT26 chassis.

To shoot in NRL Hunter with a 25cal, you must use the very heavy 133/135/138 grain bullets. So you'll want the 7twist.

I would strongly suggest looking up the rules for the different types of matches you plan on attending. Would suck to spend a bunch of money only to find out, Doesn’t make the power factor or it’s to heavy! This knowledge will make choosing barrel twists and barrel profiles and all the other components like optics and mounts, stock/chassis and even trigger and bipod etc easier. Less frustration and wasted dollars. Have fun

I am new to reloading. I just built my 25 CM off a Rem 700 SA with a 26" IBI barrel with a 1-7 twist. Just wondering what everyone is getting for a COAL for the 135gr Berger. I am getting a COAL of 2.604 with an CBOT of 2.093. Berger sent me load data with a COAL of 2.800.
