Have you ever had issues with the Canadian barrels. I was speaking to a gunsmith, he said all Canadian barrels are crap.

Who Was ? the Gunsmith that claimed that knowledge ! FACT is JC - KS - HW - IBI -Jury ALL make Winning barrrels here in Canada !

I am new to reloading. I just built my 25 CM off a Rem 700 SA with a 26" IBI barrel with a 1-7 twist. Just wondering what everyone is getting for a COAL for the 135gr Berger. I am getting a COAL of 2.604 with an CBOT of 2.093. Berger sent me load data with a COAL of 2.800.

Thats ALL depends on the reamer throating deapth ! It Can vary greatly ! Just worry about What you HAVE and load from there !

Maybe I will call IBI and find out what throat depth I have. I have already put 30 round down the barrel to break it in, the gun shoots great, the operator is the issue lol

Ok Well then if it shoots GREAT ! what is your Concern ?

how are you checking your cartridge OAL ?

Using short action customs COAL gauge. Also have the Hornady set

They should have used a saami reamer with .150” freebore.

There is a few variations out there.
.080”, .150”, .180”

Forget Saami specs.

Find your lands, (Eric Cortina has a simple video on this), then set your length to the ogive to be 0.020” shorter than that jam length, using your comparator set.

If you want magazine fed, check your length with the mag and be sure it fits. If so, you’re good to start. Otherwise, seat the bullet deeper so you have a little bit of clearance in the mag.

Take this dummy round, and cycle it in your rifle to make sure it cycles well.

Thanks everyone, I was just getting hung up on the Saami specs thinking that is what my COAL should be. I understand now that is the max. Now I just need to do my load development from my COAL

Yes just work with your chamber dimensions

Reading your post my initial concern was what reamer did they use? You should make up a dummy round at factory OAL and see if you can chamber it. If you can't you have a bit of a problem if you ever want to shoot factory ammunition.

I am only aware of Hornady loading factory saami spec ammunition so far.

How far from the lands is the bullet seated at your 2.604" cartridge OAL? Case head to bullet tip.

My opinion is when paying for a chamber to get cut in a saami spec caliber and freebore (throat length) is not discussed it would be assumed to be close to the saami spec. That is the industry standard.

I hope you have the correct dimensions in your chamber.
