25 Yard Freestyle Accuracy.....let's play a game.

It's been over nine months, roughly 2000 rounds later since my last post. (page 11, # 105 and up)My groups improved, but i still can't do without one in the white...
This time shot with a Lipseys Flattop Blackhawk convertible in 45acp,Trigger job to sensitive 2 lb.,wich suits me well. Ammo was regular Blazer 230grs FMJ... 97-4X

Beautiful gun, I just traded into a Ruger Blackhawk in .357, 6.5" barrel stainless, just waiting for it and the papers to show up. :)

One of my older videos, about 7 years ago. 25 yards 44 factory full power loads 25 yards plus. The box is about an inch by an inch.

Another one here same distance a little more recent

That is what I call a "One thumber". I have shot hundreds of them. When I show you my target, I put my thumb over the stray shot.

Well I just got my stainless Ruger Blackhawk in .357mag. I shot a couple groups and here is the best (pretty bad). Yes I know it is the wrong target, I have to figure out how to get the right ones to print at 100% size. My wife is a pro on the computer I should just get her to figure it out.

Here is the gun and my range.

Bumping this thread because I want it to still be around next week when I get a chance to hit the range. I'm a total rookie when it comes to handguns, so I expect to have a pretty poor showing off the bat. In the grand total of 3 times I've been able to shoot my new handguns, the best I've been able to shoot was a 3" 6-shot group at 15yards in double action.
I think I'm on the right track though. The areas that need improvement are obvious, even to me as a new handgun shooter, so I know what I need to focus my practice on. Now to get the practice in!
I'll be shooting a Ruger MkIII 22/45 (.22lr) and Alfa Proj 9261Classic (9mm luger)

Fingers crossed for being able to get all 10 on paper at 25yds!

If you hold 3" at 15, there is not much to worry at 25... would be around 5".

Nice shooting, what are you using for ammo? I'm using Winchester Dynapoint 36gr in my 22/45, seems to like them the best.

those were shot with american eagle 40 grain.I get the occasional failure but not too bad. I have some federal auto match they don `t run very well at all. Mini mags are excellent never a failure with them. Picked up some blazer but have not tried them in this gun yet. I have a new buckmark coming interested to see how it does compared to the smith.

The Federal Auto Match doesn't run worth a damn in my 22/45 either.

My 22/45 likes those as well and the Federal blue box 36gr stuff. The last couple bricks I have used of the blue box has had a lot of duds in it, though. Before that it had been good, but it seems like the QC slipped on the latest stuff I have been using.

Does not run in my 10 22s very well either. was surprised because it is not the cheapest ammo out there.

Damn, that is poor news. I bought a box a little while ago to try out but haven't opened it yet. I guess I will see if I get the same results.

...and to put the thread back to the 25 yard shooting: Here is my contribution for today. Nice 5 degree celsius day. Shot on my own range, both handed, not fast. This is one of Irunguns S&W refurb police M&P45, Seeing the price of Apex parts, I cheaped out and did the Burwell trigger job myself ( 4 lb). Ammo was regular out of the box Norinco 45 acp.
Ganderite was right, the M&P is nicer to shoot than the 1911 once the trigger is done, but that gained me only 1 point ( compare my 1911 at page 11).95-2X .Seems I'm still better with the sixguns... ;)

I didn't intend to post here, as I'm fairly new to restricteds, but this target is showing improvement. So even though it's the wrong target (20 yard target) here it is. Shot offhand at 25 yards, all shots single action, one hand grip (I'm in a bullseye club). I score it at 88, 3x but I've never scored targets before so let me know if I'm wrong. Seems like my revolver is liking the M-22's over the federal auto-match I have been shooting.

Yup,I'm better with sixguns...today I had one of my S&W 625-2s out, weather as nice as yesterday. This time,750 fps ,200gr SWC target loads, and shot in SINGLE action mode ( double would be around 95), 99-5x right there.
