25 Yard Freestyle Accuracy.....let's play a game.

Sure looks like the best target to me.

I am trying to shoot targets with 10 shots in the black. When I can do that regularly, I will then try to get all 10 shots inside the 10 ring.

Went to the range (20 yards with a reduced target) and tried to get a 100. I had no problem keeping all shots in the black. With the 22 all I could manage was a 99. Shot 4 of them. In each case one of the first 4 shots was a 9, and the rest went in with no problem.

I tried a 6" Taurus, thinking the longer sight radius would help. It didn't.

For some reason I get a better sight picture with the 4" Ruger.

Exceptional shooting Ganderite.

I don't think so. Only when you compare yourself to a bunch of guys who shoot poorly does it look good.

Years ago, when I used to shoot bullseye with that Ruger 22 (40 years ago) I used to shoot either 99 or 100 on that target, every time, shooting one handed, against the clock (Timed and Rapid).

I could hold my own on timed and rapid, but only shot low 90s on deliberate, and got my ass handed to me by guys that could shoot.

In those days I used to shoot rifle competitively, around the world. I took it quite seriously. I shot handgun for relaxation and relief.

I knew what kind of concentration it took to excel at shooting (I was a Gold Medalist) and enjoyed other types of shooting that I did not have to take seriously. I discovered that the fundamentals of rifle shooting translated quite well to pistol shooting and to bow, both of which I was competent without much effort. For that reason I enjoy pistol shooting. I enjoy it, without having to make it a life priority. I shoot F class (rifle) and CQB (rifle and pistol) for the same reason. Lots of fun, but don't have to take it seriously.

Results flow from expectations. If you compete against guys who shoot much better than you, it raises the bar of your own expectations. I post my results here only to share my journey for your amusement and to motivate most of you to out shoot a half blind 70 year old.

Daaammmm,..I'm so pissed .... My Gsg shot better than my shadow.....this is hard, thought I'd do better this time!!!!!!

Please keep posting your results, it's interesting to see the difference between the guns you shoot, and even though I can't yet find time to try this yet, I can't wait to make a fool out of myself!!!
My best ever ,but only 5 shot group at 16 yards on a 3" dot, using my GP 100 4.25".

I tell myself I'm not a competitive person but when I have someone or score to shoot against it really motivates me and focuses me.

I probably wouldn't of pulled off the target I posted here if it weren't for this thread it made me want to do it!

Nice group.

I did not like my GP100 at all. Then it got a trigger job and suddenly it works.

Heavy, aren't they?

I love mine, I got a decent trigger out of the box. I did add trigger shims and hammer dog shims to it anyway and got rid of the slop.
I also painted the front sight bright orange over white.

I have never handled or shot a pistol like that. can you tell me more about it? Looks to be some kind of long, ported CZ with an optical sight. 9mm or 40? or 45?

It's a CZ Czechmate. So basically it is a Tactical sport with a compensator and a side mounted C-More red dot. It shoots 9mm major which is 9mm ammunition loaded to 357 magnum velocities. It's designed for IPSC competition.

Where are they available? Is yours stock without extra custom mods?

Any CZ dealer can order them. I believe they are 3200 +. Mine has converted to use a side mounted Cmore and I have as thumb rest. Other than that, it's basically stock. The gun is capable of under 2" groups at 25 yards from a rest. Unfortunately, it also weighs a ton so holding it up there and aiming gives your arms a good workout. It is meant to be shot fast!

...Haha! More like for YOUR amusement , because most of us,me included have a hard time to stay on par-let alone "outshoot" a half blind 70 year old. My only hope is I can use the 23years difference to get there without the government putting a plug on it.
Now seriously. The amount of firearms you shoot and the scores you do is inspiring.Keep that up as long as you can and forward your experience to the ones that are willing to listen.

My shooting is good enough to hold my own with most average shooters, but I am not a "high speed - low drag; Gucci kit" kind of guy. The sprinting part of CQB is not my forte, so I have to shoot slightly faster. I enjoy shooting all my guns and try to shoot different ones each time. Here I am with a pair of guns my age - a Lee Enfield and a Tokorev.

Here are three videos, so you can see what a half blind 70 year old looks like shooting CQB. My "sprint" is more like a fast waddle. Guns are a SKS backed with a 1911 (9mm, 45 or 7.62x25 - can't tell) and a 40 S&W Hi-Point carbine backed with a MP9 or 40, and a Norinco Ar-15 backed with a CZ75.

Note: These video clips show a "hot" transition to the pistol. For increased safety, we now use a "cold" transition. The rifles are all cleared before restarting the clock on the pistol phase.

CQB is great fun. We do a complete practice before each match, plus we have clinics at the beginning of the season, with top notch instructors. In this video you can see a clip where I wore a hat cam plus had a camera downrange on the target. Pistol is stock CZ75 with better sights. If you are in the Toronto area you should join us. Most fun I ever had with my clothes on.
