I don't really bthink you could call that a negative argument , Gibbs, just a statement of preferance.Gibbs505 said:Sorry, I fall into "e" Congradultory but personally would have used something else.

I myself would not use one either, but only because I would like to shoot one with a BP cartridge, somethinmg like my 577/450.

Thanks.................!Lazy Ike said:Great thread, I was actually so intrested I took Gibbs 505 off my ignore list to get the full experience. Nice bear good shot.
I guess the question is how likely it is for the situation to change from the former to the latter?Boomer said:A point not mentioned yet is that there is a big difference between hunting a bear and (dare I say it?) bear defence. In the hunting scenario the bear (unsuspecting) is shot from a safe distance, in the other scenario he is killed at bad breath range. Speaking in generalities, an unsuspecting bear is not tough to kill, however once he's decided the fight is on that's another story. Much depends on the kind of country the bear is to be found in, but if the griz is found in a high alpine meadow, or on the tundra the advantages are all on the side of the hunter.
Yup!Gibbs505 said:Sweet, in a Martini enfield?
