270 vs 30-06

That's why I got a 6.5x55. Which is twice the cartridge that the 270 or 30/06 could ever be...on a bad day...slipping in the mud...with damp powder...etc. Hit it boys!
No argument there... You are regressing again Steve... what color is the sky in your world anyway :?:

Sounds like a thread hijack to me

Hijack? no no - We prefer to think of it as mearly being thourough in examining the miriad and complex nature of the subject to it's fullest. That can sometimes LOOK like a hijack.

Hey - what was the subject again?

Steve,

Do you find that the metric calibers are more lethal on game than the non-metric? Several in-depth studies I have done seem to indicate otherwise. It is a well known fact that it you are much more likely to wound game with a metric caliber. Think of the animals!

He probably just shoots metric moose.

There is a HUGE difference between etric and Imperial calibers!!

if you hit somethign with a .308 cal bullet going 2700fps, it will fall down. Use a 7.62mm bullet at 2700fps, and it will run off!

What?!? How the hell could a "metric" 7.62 move at 2700 ft/sec. Impossible, as metric bullets cannot travel at ft/s.

Now I would believe that a 7.62mm bullet could travel at 822.96 m/s!!!

Quite the velocity difference! Oh those poor, poor Metric Moose!

I believe that if you check the law, you'll find that using the old measurements is illegal. We've been on the metric system for something like 30 years. So, if you don't want anyone busting down your door, you'd better start talking metric...quickly!

7.7x53mm
7.62x51mm
6.5x55mm etc.

All meese in Canuckia are metric now.

Hi Steve,

Do you have a preference or 'fav' in these new metric calibres? This is all a little newfangled to me.

The first one looks good (bigger), are there any web sites relating to it?

Thank-you.

Stevo - the moderators have recieved the following letter from the gov't in regards to your post:

From: The Right Honourable And Good And Truthfull (honest!) But Still Mad As Hell Prime Minister Paul Martin

Re: Abuse of the official languages act.

Dear Sir,

In your recent post on "CanadianGunNutz" (not that we monitor it or anything) You were quoted as having correctly written a cartridge name in a manner acceptible to Canada and her citizens.

I note that you have completely ignored the official laugages act, and insulted our french Citizens. This is entirely unacceptable.

As you know, all such designations must be in both official languages. Therefore, we insist that from now on you refer to such cartridges by their proper full name, for example the 7.7x53mm/7.7x53mm. (The first one is the french spelling).

As this appears to be your first offense we will let it go without charges. However, next time you can expect a fine, a one-year prohibition on eating poutine, and the confiscation of your incorrectly labled guns.

Actually - you know what, just send in your guns anyway. Thanks.

- Big Paulie.
