280 ai

If you’re going to go with a long action 7 for hunting and desire speed the 7 Rem Mag is the obvious choice. If you want a lighter build for climbing mountains the 7/08 is the ticket. If there is a gap there it is filled nicely with a 280/270.
The 280ai is just another marketing gimmick imo.

I started the factory load thing because I believe that 75 % or more of the average hunter uses factory . That's why I keep going back to that . The 7RM factory is a very poor load in the 160 grain level . Look at ferderal's posted speeds . The 280ai is the same as the 7rm , go figure ...remember that for hunting , not shooting paper is caliber performance ... so handloads to the avg Joe , means what ?
Sure , I agree if you wanna over pack a 7 it shoots fast , remember SAAMI .
The bottom line is the average diff of factory 7rm and 280ai is down to the specific rifle ....
I have 2 7RM and luv them ... but the 280ai smacks just as good .. There's no 100 fps advantage to the 7

I've always stated that the 300 H&H and 9.3x74R are long ###y cartridges however, as the old cliche go's, which is used loosely, "beautiful is in the eyes of the beholder". I have both cartridges chambered in classic rifles, and these cartridges make most other's appear short and squat, even beside the 7mm Rem Mag. accompanied with the 280AI.

Pretty.much every point here is wrong. You are trying to make the facts fit your narrative... you should apply to CBC.

tell me how wrong .. instead of a general statement
you don't know

First, you don't have to "over pack" the 7 RM to stomp a .280 AI, load them both to SAAMI Max with the same weight bullet from the same length barrel, and "voila," a clear winner. The 7 RM capacity is 80 grains, the .280 AI is only 65 grains... 15 grains is quite alot. Secondly, the answer is simple physics... it is not up to some factory loads you pulled off you local CT shelf... and it is not "down to the specific rifle." Anyone, including manufactures can down load one cartridge and upload another and claim a win, but AGAIN, with equal parameters the .280 AI cannot beat the 7 RM or even get within 100 fps... when loaded to SAAMI Max with same weight bullets and same barrel lengths... how else can cartridges be legitimately compared? Looks like the the .280 AI is your pet and you are defending it no matter what the science dictates... Kind of like Ballistic Wokeness...
