30-06 Complement ? 9.3x62@Post 67

In hindsight, the 9.3X62 or .35 Whelen would have sufficed as a better big brother rather than the big uncle (read true king) :)

Maybe a fullstock 9.3 or .35 is in my future ...

I went down the same road and realized that a 375 was more than I needed, as well as being heavier, more recoil and more expensive than the alternatives you mention.

I chose the Whelen to replace the 375. If not for all the 35W reloading kit I had on hand, the 9.3 would have been a top choice as well.

Paul we all know you want and need a 9.3x62 ... you cannot have only the copycat of the 9.3x62 ... no way we can have you in the Yukon with a 35 whelen ...

You cut me hard. :(

I think the OP was talking about another X bolt. If he is, then some of the pretty much reloader only calibers would likely not be available? 9.3x62, 350 mag, 35 Whelen.

If he is wanting to go smaller, invest in a better scope for the 6.5x55. If he wants larger then probably 338wm or 375 H&H in the Xbolt.
A good economical larger bore as a loaner or minimal Grizzly/Bison might be a Tradex Husky in 9.3x62.

Personally if it was me, a Xbolt in H&H.

It's not a long range caliber, or rifle for that matter. But I am very fond of my 45-70 marlin. It's simplicity to take apart, ruggedness, cycling speed and power are admirable. The caliber is also versatile depending on the ammunition.

For flexibility get a T/C Encore and pick up multiple barrels now that is a serious Equipment exchange addiction I got 5 barrels now and keep looking out for anything interesting im leaning towards a 375h&h next

Waiting for pictures on two nice Husky M98.
Would go along nicely with the M96 6.5mm in the safe.

Updates to come soon :)

Sad news... Didn't win any draws this year.

Good news I got this on the way :

I'll probably use a set of Weaver Grand Slam rings on it. Anyone know a seller that stocks steel weaver bases ?

Nice choice! ........ 9.3x62 I assume. Top that with a nice little Leupold 1.5-5 and you will have a handy set-up.

I suggest getting it glass bedded right off the hop to avoid future cracking at the tangs. Those rifles are notorious for that. A recoil pad wouldn't hurt either. <pun intended> :)

Also .... The aluminum weavers will work fine as well. I've used aluminum weavers on 375s and 35Whelens w/o any problems. Good rings are needed either way.
