30-06 maximum moose range

I think the question is based on how many ft-lb energy and velocity required to kill a moose. Remington ballistics for classic 180g core-lokt pointed soft point. These ballistics reflected a test barrel length of 24".
180 Core-Lokt® Pointed Soft Point 9 1/2 2700 2469 2250 2042 1846 1663 2913 2436 2023 1666 1362 1105 0.0 zero -1.3 -4.2 -8.8 -15.4 2.1 1.8 zero -3.5 -9.0 -26.3 -54.0 0.383 (ft-lb at 500 yards 1105)
I think that with proper shot placement 1000 ft-lb should do the job. With a drop of 54 inches factoring for wind, 500 yards may not be a good idea.
165 gr ballistics looks a bit better. ( velocity 1870 ft/s, 1281 ft-lb at 500 yards )
165 AccuTip Boat Tail 9 1/2 2800 2597 2403 2217 2039 1870 2872 2470 2115 1800 1523 1281 0.2 0.8 zero -2.1 -5.9 -11.1 1.8 1.6 zero -3.2 -7.9 -22.8 -46.2 0.447
It depends on the shooter.

looking for opinions on what the maximum range a moose can be killed with a 30-06 180 grain bullet. I know people will argue different scenarios or bullet selections or why shoot moose that far. just looking for straight answers not looking to argue lets say in a perfect scenario standing broad side standing in a clearing 300,400,500,600+? yards away to take the arguement sake out of this.

300 yards or meters is a pretty long shot. 200 is quite doable most of the time. 30-06 can kill a moose at 300 yards if shot in the kill zone. If you know your rifle very good and have good optics yes you can shoot at 300+ but you are going to have a few wounded moose you may have a hard time finding. I am not sure how far most moose are shot at but I can tell you most moose I have shot have been under 200 yards. So my 30-06 is well within a range I can take game at. After all they are a pretty big target.

I did a poll on here a long time ago I think asking the longest range people ever shot their deer at. 95 percent of the ranges were under 200 yards. IMO if it's a living animal most should be very conservative with the ranges. Aside from sheep and pronghorn perhaps, IMO leave it at 300 yards and preferably 200 or less. No Hail Marys for wildlife.

A couple of years ago I figured this out and IIRC my average shot distance was somewhere just over 150 yards.
