300 Fireball AR15 (Brass forming - post #150)

Btw, the original plan we had called for something like THIS:

That's the ATRS "Security Carbine" - 11.5" with the SPEX. We both thought extending a free-float rail over a low-pro gas block and up to the SPEX would give a nice appearance.

Problem was, no 1:8 barrels yet... only these 1:10 blank remnants, in the 9"-10" neighborhood.

So, full Kudos to Suputin for the ingenuity to figure out a solution to my whining (read: repeated inquiries as to the 1:8 barrel order). Personally, I think the 9" bbl looks awesome with that SPEX... in truth, I like what we ENDED with better than what we PLANNED for initially! The way it is now is just DAMN ###y:

And, being that it's paid for and shipping ASAFP, I guess it's on me to put up some pics of it on top of its Bushy lower when I get the package!

I love it, same mags and same lower - but a full-out swap from .223 to .308.

I mean, you can't BEAT that! :D

Making 300 Whisper brass takes nearly no effort if you have a Dillon trimmer. You just cut down a 308 Win. trim die and let the RT-1200 do the work.

It figures they ship the 1:8's right after we worked around it with the 1:10's... :p

Actually, the nicest thing is that for those wanting to shoot full-house .300 Fireball, a longer barrel would be an option after the new 1:8 barrels arrive - am I correct on that, Rick? These are full-length blanks, yes?

What you're saying is that if you don't get it done soon you'll have to change the engraving from:

".300 FIREBALL"

to:

".300 BLUEBALLS"

???
