300WSM V 7mm RM

I say buy the Ruger, I think they're very well built, stout guns. 7Rem Mag is great for long range, certainley as good as a 300Wsm. After shooting both, choose your favorite. A heavier gun will help long range accuracy, my newer lighter guns are tougher to hold still for long shots. my 2cents Cheers!

You load 208 Amaxs and I'll sport 162's we'll go to the gongs and see who goes home crying to his wife he needs Tylenol 3's and Rye....

I'll give you a hint, I don't have a wife......

'Course I ain't a crotchety old bastard either cou:

Most I would shoot would be 190gr Bergers. Don't need 208gr to kill paper or steel...

gawdurapussy...:p

dealer handed me a browning .
i inspected it
look at bolt and removed from action
laughed deep inside upon sight of the tiny lugs
smirking i reassmble and hand back to dealer.
no thanks!!

7 mm yes
300 wsm no

As already mentioned there's not enough difference to talk about. If ya buy the 7mm shoot it, if your more comfortable with it then sell the wsm, if not do the opposite!

So it IS a bad thing??? :D ;)
'Least someone caught my use of the old BS double negatives. :D

Ya well you're a Southerner. Don't you got a crossbow and a 15 yard pile of apples beckoning old timer?

Amen, praise the lord and pass the CRF (MKII that is).

I am also becoming more of a fan of Ruger, for various reasons.

But every time I seriously look at cartridge with a .284 dia bullet, I always end up thinking it would be even better if it had a .308 dia bullet instead.

What I would do; sell the Browning in 300 WSM and buy a nice Ruger in 300 win mag.

No offense, but what is a .300Mag gonna do for the OP that a 7Mag won't, other than recoil harder and burn a bit more powder?

Yup...that sums it up right there. And yes Jordan youre right...triple negatives. That mans a riot I tell ya.

Oddly enough its also the toughest caliber to sell in a used rifle.
Wonder why that is?

Maybe the rifle you're trying to sell isnt very popular? I've had that happen more than once, vice versa too.

Not really. The Ruger #1B's sold like hotcakes when the 7mm STW craze was on because they were a no brainer to convert.
Other than that Remington 700 BDL's and other common bolt guns seem to get the cold shoulder if they are chambered in 7mm Rem. Mag.
It's not a bad round but I dont think it's all that popular with todays shooters.
Just my general 0.02 cents worth..

Well if you can`t decide between 300wsm and 7mm Rem then do what I did-buy a 7wsm.
Not very common but definitely a rocket ship and seems to be very accurate in my Browning.

He he, again, alot of great veiws coming through.

7 WSM, hmm possibly, was keen before i bought the 30wsm. Although i dont really plan on reloading, not for some time anyway which could be the downside, although numerous shots wont be shot.
My cuz has a 7m08 an it would be nice to order the same projie to keep costs down also.

I am more interested in the 7Rem mag though at this stage, not sure why.

if it kicks like a 270 an hits like a 300 i will be one very satisfied hunter.

The 300wsm needs to be sold before i upgrade, Trade in is worth litterally your .2c Douglas D, so it is advertised for 3 months. if it doesnt sell in 3 months i'l think about trading as i have a NZ trip for Tahr in April/march.

Dont know anything about rifle values "down under" WhelanLad, but I do know I'm not trading or selling my .300 WSM to buy a 7mm Rem Mag.any time soon.
I'm thinking my .300 WSM would do fine on NZ Tahr if I get the chance would it not?
