.303 surplus

That is Ranger issue ammunition - the soft point version intended for hunting. The ball labelling is different.

last I saw any surplus with mine own eyes... was Ellwood Epps around 10 years ago.. I don't remember the type but it was a geenish mostly square wood crate. It may have been 800 rounds but I am not sure..

long ago anyway, and about the only stuff I ever saw in person.. and I am middle aged

The last surplus that I sold in my business was South African and Yugo. The Yugo was Mk.8. Really shot in a CA Bren.

Couldn't get a buck around for that stuff last April.
Going to treat it like gold this April................................:pirate:

You mean you are going to let the price drop the way the gold price has been dropping? I am thinking about getting a Lee-Enfield so I had
better get something to shoot out of it. I will come looking for some .75 cent .303 at the Kamloops gun show!

This thread brought back some memories. In 1988 we got a massve late spring snow storm, roads were all shut down, so was snowed in at the farm fo three days. But on day two the sun came out, and all the gophers tunelled to the surface, and were running around on top the snow.
So I set my 5 year old son up with my Bren gun, and a stack of 30rd mags, and he plinked away at gophers for half a day. Bren guns basically have no recoil, he could handle it no problem.
303 was so cheap at the time that shooting 500 rounds at a sitting was no big deal.
My how times have changed. No cheap 303, can't shoot a Bren gun, 30 round mags are a no-no, and would probably be reported for child endangerment, lol.

LOL, I to once had a Brengun and shooting at gophers with 30rd mags and mixed ball and tracer ammo was a truly pleasant experience that makes me smile when I think of it :) Too bad it is so forbidden now :(

the bren is not prohibited by name a new semi auto only receiver would have to be machined but that would not be cheap

I've got about 200 rounds of .303 I'm going to sell. Two 48 round boxes are not opened but are 1950 manufacture and the rest is WWII but in very nice condition. Plus there are 12 in a machine gun belt.

C'mon, Less than 2-days in. 303 is going for $80-100+ in my neighbourhoods. Much cheaper to buy something in .308 to get better choices of ammo. The 303s are going really cheap - in the $2-300 range BUT you'll PAY to feed 'em.

Nah PPU .303 is still available for 40$ a pack. Cheapest .308 is like 30$ a box. Not to much difference. PPU is not only the cheapest available .303 it's also the best.
