32days and 1472$ later

According to CBSA (and these are the same Ceberus crowd that insisted I needed a firearms dealer license and a PAL to import rifle barrels mind you...and they were dead wrong) Items that require IIC's are considered commercial - not casual - imports when they cost more than 1600.

I prefer the B3 route because it is (for me) easier and I do not have to pay PST up front

Nine pages of thread and we still have yet to determine if dealers are bottom feeders.

I think you've got to give the dealers credit for continuing to do what has become an increasingly difficult task... they probably do it because they love it - not because they want to make incredible amounts of money. I'm surprised there's a firearms industry left in Canada and we should do whatever we can to support them whenever possible. Of course I'm new to all this so I may be completely wrong but in a free market the cost is whatever the market will bear. I know it's not exactly a "free market" but if an individual thinks they can do better then good for him... if you want to go the safe route then buy from a dealer.

Whether dealers are bottom feeders may still be a matter of persepctive, but I know how to regard those that hide behind the detached safety and anonymity of a forum Nom de Plume and hurl their excreta without consequence.

Good post as I am also curious to the details needed for importation. Allot of paper work and procedural knowledge needed it seems, but possible. I have dealers I use and trust as the cost is not prohibitive to the work needed to be done.

People forget that it is the dealers who allow the majority of firearm owners in Canada to be owners. Sure there may be some that charge a bit much, but it is a free market society and you do not have to buy.

Thanks for the info.

Right you are.
Yet, so far this thread has been most civil.
On the other hand, I take some umbrage for you referring to my person as some sort of simian, I consider myself to be more of an ape, with a slightly flat forehead.

and yet another post by oleg69 that re afirms my decision to have him / it on my ignore list

How did you manage to read my post to find it in such contravention of your high minded standards?
Of course my words are for naught, since I've been on your ignore list all along.
Affirms is also spelled wrong even though CGN has a build <SIC- Thanks Cyan1de> in spell-checker.
Peace.

To all dealers who took offence to my comment.
I do not believe dealers to be bottom feeders.
I've dealt with the following; CanAm, Marstar, DelSelin and P+D.
All upstanding vanguards of this forum.

But, clearly there are posters in this thread that do indeed believe that dealers have the same moral fiber as usurers. Hence the caustic term given by yours truly.

Some believe that what I'm saying is bubkuss (spelling?). Those souls can certainly make use of the ignore button somewhere on the right. God must have put it there for a reason of course...

Grammar police FAILS!! LOL

It's BUILT in

Grammar police failed at spelling or grammar. Not both.
Not both!

Furthermore Independent Civilian Spelling Unit failed at punctuation.
A period, or similar punctuation is required after "LOL".

Hmmmm..interesting. I looked it up. No it doesn't!

You lose. :D

And my opinion on the Bottom Feeder's question is that dealers on this site (or any other dealers/retailers for that matter) are NOT bottom feeders. Everybody has to make a living whether it be as a wholesaler, importer, retailer...whatever. There are some, though, that do feed closer to the bottom than the others.

bclinehand:

Sorry....did it again... LOL <---- No "."
