If one was to go! and one was only to hunt moose or Elk once in a while, ( Every 5 Years) which one would you let go?
The 35 Whelen or the 444 Marlin? I have a 6.5X65 rifle and lots of 30-30 rifles.
I have both and would definitely keep the .35 Whelen. More versatility.
35 Whelen all the way. I've owned several of both (I think you've had one of my 444p's) and I stuck with the Whelen.
The 444 is great if you're looking to stick with a lever action, and I'd take it over a 45-70, but the Whelen offers more range.

Keep them both. You will regret selling either one. I am a big fan of the Whelen though.
Now them there is fightin' words, pardner. Y'all have 3 seconds ta take that back!![]()

If you hunt Moose and Elk primarily in timber then keep the .444. It's a heavy game stomper and brush-obstructed shots are less likely to be deflected.
