.375 h&h on deer

My .375H&H probably weighs 10Ibs.and when I'm hunting I don't try to outrun deer with it.
The mentality this days goes towards superlight rifles, maybe because we are a fat nation. The fatter the hunter gets the lighter the rifle has to be.
Agreed, strange all those hunters who carred 10lb springfields years ago, seemed not to mind.

What's nice now is we have a choice.

But lack any mental faculties... I have no experience shooting a .375 on deer.
Why is it those with absolutely no experience whatsoever on the subject at hand are the ones who seem to attempt to be most authorative on the subject and criticize those who do have experience for their "mental faculties"???

Your total ignorance of experience and knowledge regarding the subject at hand is duly noted.

I also wouldn't take a 12 ga on a grouse hunt.
I would and do. Of course, I'd also bet you a pretty good chunk of money that my 12 gauge throws better patterns than you 20 gauge or .410 or whatever it is you use with any grouse load from 7/8 oz. to as heavy as you care to try.

Which is not to say that anyone who doesn't use a 12 gauge lacks "mental facilities" or anything else like that, of course. Just that it's a perfectly fine choice for hunting grouse, not unlike the fact a .375 H&H is just fine for deer should you decide to choose it.

Keep guessing...

bolt action rifles were around well before "Smokeless powder", and the 7X57...

I am talking about "modern" (smokeless powder) bolt action repeating rifles the first was MAUSER in 7x57 Therefore all bolt action repeating rifles were derived from this original design. They are all different in their own way but they still owe their heritage to the original.

By this way of thinking....The Mauser owes it's heritage to the earlier bolt actions, which were truly original.:dancingbanana:

See you don't even know so why are you posting. You call me an idiot. To me the modern era of firearms started with the advent of smokeless powder. The 7x57 was the first to be used in a bolt action repeater. Mauser 7x57 the grandpa of them all.
