375 Ruger here to stay?

Jeezuz, didn't we just go through this in the 416 thread? Knock it off guys! Neither of you are posting any actual statistics, telling someone to go to Google doesn't show us anything. Post up some actual numbers and debate those, if you cant, give it a rest.

I must apologize but I don't have the computer skills to do this, all I can do is look it up and reference it to someone else. I'm too old for this sh!t and I am certainly no computer expert. The numbers are there for all to see if they choose though.

I believe it'll stay around I just quickly looked in Google that cz and Browning are making rifles chambered in this round so that makes at least 3 if you count ruger I also came across a ad from hornaday it was producing these rounds the article was dated in 2011 I also say hornaday ammo in 375 ruger listed on cabelas us site. Just sayin

hopefully it will stick around and more manufactures will start to produce ammo. I reload for mine so if they do can it I will be good for a while

It isn't going anywhere. The sales are stronger and more consistant than the .338 RUM and it is still here. nd before some neophyte says it, no target/long range shooters are not keeping the RUM alive. That is the .338 Edge that's popular and it uses 300 RUM as a basis.

Personally I'd go 375HH when I buy a new 375

The ruger 375 sales are down. Maybe the glamour of it haas worn off. How many average ppl buy more then 1 375? I hope it stays around. Everybody loves options and it makes a nice lil brother to the REAL 375. The HH

To settle this debate amoung a small # of shooters/hunters here. Why don't someone start a poll. I can't I only have blackberry mobile. The poll should be what 375 version would you buy
375hh
375ruger
375weatherby just for giggles

Refute the statistics I have quoted, with stats of your own proving me wrong, where can I go to see in black and white that what you say is true?
I think this pretty much shuts down this debate, don't you Gatehouse? Get back to me when you can support your opinion with facts as I have!!!!!

I'd be more than happy to discuss your stats if you would actually list them. A link would suffice.

I think its here to stay...I know more people who own a 375 Ruger, than I do the H&H, if that means anything...

Same here, now that I think about it. There are quite a few guys who wouldn't have ever had a H&H become intrigued by the Alaskan and buy one, even if they didn't really *need* a 375. For that matter, I probably don't *need* a .375, but I sure do like them. :)

Only 375 H&H and Ruger No.1 are not available in 375 Ruger...and I don't understand why????????

The only conceivable advantage the Ruger round has over the H&H is the ability to fit into a shorter action. In a single shot rifle like the #1 this is a non-issue. It would be more reasonable to ask why on earth they would chamber the #1 in .375Ruger!

As for the arguments over which one is better, consider this: we have lots of guys arguing and debating whether or not the .375Ruger will even EXIST a few years into the future. Does anyone question even for one moment if the H&H will still be around? Of course not...the.375H&H will continue in production for as long as sporting ammunition and arms are sold. Case closed.

The .375H&H fits into Rem700 and Winchester70 actions without a problem. It doesn't fit nearly as easily or as well into the Ruger77. If the 77 had been originally designed long enough to handle the H&H round as effectively as the 70 and 700, would the .375Ruger ever have been developed? Just askin'...

I've owned both a Brno 602 375 H&H and now a blackened 375 Ruger Alaskan. The Brno went down the road. I voted with my money. For my $$, the complete package of the Alaskan rifle and the 375 Ruger cartridge are an infinitely better hunting package - nice light, short package, able to mount a scope very low, compared to a longer, heavier, harder to get a good low mounted scope.

If I were going to Africa in the near future, that MIGHT drive me to take an H&H, but then again it might not.

That new abomination Guide Gun is FUGLY. I still wouldn't hesitate to buy one though based on it's look - get a gunsmith to chuck the barrel in a lathe and turn off those stupid threads and throw it in a $100 Ruger factory synthetic stock like it did on mine. As ugly as the GG stock is, it's still a much more practical stock than that awful abortion of a rubber Hogue club.

Seeing as how I don't know how to do the link thing, nor am I able to find the site again, I've gone one better and contacted both Ruger and Hornady and requested their sales figures for this cartridge (and brass) for the past 5 years. If and when they get back to me I will be happy to share their e-mails, for all here to see.
Enough of this meaningless banter, let's get it from the horse's mouth's, so to speak. If I am wrong or have been previously misinformed I will immediately order a new Ruger African in 375 Ruger and a second in 416 Ruger (any excuse will do to buy a new rifle) and hope to he!! someone besides Hornady will make brass for it one day!!
Just to be crystal clear on this issue it is my contention that both Ruger rifle sales and Hornady ammo sales (including new brass) are down from 5 years ago, thus supporting my position that the Ruger offering is not only on death row but it is not now, nor ever will be king of anything.

Finally a voice of reason rises above the cacophany!!

It fits in a standard actions, which due to mass production are cheaper than the magnum actions required for the 375 H&H. Therefore the 375 Ruger can be made for less $$. This allows lower pricing which is why I think it is here to stay. I won't sell my 375 H&H, but I think that simple economics will give the 375 Ruger enough support to keep it alive.

Other manufacturers including Howa and Heym have started chambering the .375 Ruger and I think the list will grow quickly.

I'd be fine if the .375 ruger made some inroads. More volume of .375 ammo and components might push the prices down.

On the other hand, if Ruger brought the magnum action back in a less fancy rifle that would be nice too. Make a larger version of the .375 Ruger Alaskan with a checkered laminated stock and no muzzle brake please.

Be sure to check with the other companies that are selling 375 Ruger rifles now too. There seems to be quite a number of them now.

Well they killed the Alaskan. Only stainless version is this abortion...

That's down right nasty. Looks like an overfeed Gunsite Scout. I like carbine .308's and I'm not buying into that kool-aid either.:rey2

The .375 Ruger has a decent chance at populating throughout the rifle world, especially as long as companies like Ruger and Savage offer good quality, economical rifles to chamber it. A lot of hunter's would like to have one powerful rifle .338" or larger in their inventory,... and the price point /caliber combo from makers like Savage and Ruger, offers it for sure.

If there are only more traditional bolt-action heavyweights in both fit, finish and price available, like a CZ, SAKO, and up up up,........ the .375 Ruger chambering in these, might well be lost forever in the shadow of the greatest .375 of all time,...the one Holland'n'Holland got right 100 years ago, which seems to attract first time .375" buyers as much from nostalgia as actual ballistic ability.
