410. Love or hate

brybenn, I chuckled when I read about your 24 at skeet with the A400 28 ga. I shot a 24 with my A400 28 ga yesterday. The A400's sure are easy guns to shoot well despite the really light weight, at least the Xplor model 28 ga and Xcel 12 ga. A couple weeks ago I got a 24 at skeet with the Fausti .410 O/U...my best .410 score at skeet to date. Love shooting the small gauges/bore at skeet. Quite challenging!

A light weight shotgun is a lot harder to shoot well if you are used to shooting a very heavy shotgun! My 12 gauge sporting gun weighs 9 lbs and when I go to a light gun such as a 410 or 28 gauge, I notice that I imediately over swing because the light weight doesn't take as much effort to move the barrels and then I don't follow though on acount of the same light weight. Once I've shot the gun for a few rounds and get used to it then I'm away to the races but it really is difficult when your muscle memory thinks your have a 9 lb gun instead of a 5 lb gun. That's why my favourite 28 is actually a 20/28 combo so the 28 is on a heavier frame than most 28's.
