My wife uses a 96 Ruger lever gun in 44 Mag, to great effect. It's her favorite rifle by far. Light as a feather.
The 77/44 is a very cool gun now if it came with a stock and not something from my wife's Tupperware drawer I'd still have mine.
I have a JM Marlin 1894 in 44 mag, and dad has a ruger semi auto carbine. The tube fed one. I guess it's mine now as he let his license lapse...![]()
Maybe I should get your dad to bring the Ruger to my house. For safe keeping of course![]()

hoyt...how many of those are 77/44's
I have an undeniable bit of curiosity about those 77/44s. There's a lot of good points to them.
I have a Minty Ruger 44 Carbine in my safe, that hasn't been shot in years...

Heard a while back ruger might bring the deerfield back. I had a new one i mistakenly sold
Two Dogs...it's the Original Ruger 44 Carbine Tube mag, low mileage, early (metal butt plate) in Excellent Condition. Never Hunted.
cool. I've been really wanting a 99/44 Deerfield with the rotary mag. Can't find one anywhere. One may have popped up a quite a while back, but the price was sooooo high, that I couldn't afford it. I hope the rumor of Ruger making them again comes true. I have a real beauty blued 77/44 in Walnut, real nice and hardly fired and a custom 96/44 lever action with a stainless heavy barrel. I would consider working out a trade deal with either one for a nice Deerfield.
